I think I must just be a glutten for punishment. Or a freak of nature...I'm leaning towards freak of nature.
I just never learn. I bought Oxycise videos and tape many years ago when it first came out and loved it. Then, after a month or two of really good results I stopped (I blame it on my fickle youth). I sold my tapes at a yard sale and regretted it for years. Then I forgot...I seem to do more of that as I get older. Then I remembered! Oxycise! I loved Oxycise! So I found the site again and ordered DVDs and CD this time...how times have changed. I did it for a while but got convinced by my partner that I needed something more substantial. What I fool I was! We started doing this very energetic Bollywood dance tape that makes you flail about. Within a week I was diagnosed with Vertigo. Damn dancing flat-stomached smiley person! So now I can't dance Bollywood style anymore...not that I had the energy or the stamina for it. So I'm back to Oxycise, or at least I will be in a week when I find the DVDs again. Maybe this time I will have learned my lesson and stick with it. I know it works, the breathing techniques have gotten me through more than just extra flab. Very helpful during root canals, insomnia, driving in Washington DC during rush hour, and more. Wish me luck...or at least wish me sense enough to continue with it this time. |

I am glad to hear that you are ready to get back to Oxycising!
At one time or another we have all quit doing something that was good for us. We get busy with work, go on vacation or get sick and it truly is hard to get going again once you are back in the habit of not exercising. But don't be discouraged! I know that you can stick with it this time! Here are a couple of suggestions that Jill Johnson has written in her book for those who are really ready to make permanent body changes! #1: Set specific goals #2: Track your progress Set a goal and tell everyone about it. Think about what you really want to accomplish and write it down. A goal not written is only a wish. Telling everyone what you're doing will make you accountable to others beside yourself. Plus, this way you will get support from friends and family when you are feeling discouraged. (Also, as Kelly mentioned, check out the Determined 2 Lose thread for daily support) Get a tape measure and measure yourself. It is important to weigh and measure regularly and to write these measurements down. The Chart Your Success book is available to help you keep a record of your progress but you can also use a regular notebook you have at home. As you progress, it will be gratifying and motivating to look back and see how far you've come. Don't forget to reward yourself as you start to make positive changes. Here are some ideas: Some extra time with your spouse or children. An evening out with friends. A new outfit or pair of shoes. A hike in the mountains. A day off for golf, skiing or whatever you enjoy most. A facial. A massage. A bubble bath. Choose something that is motivating and refreshing! I hope to hear your success story in the near future. Good luck and keep on breathin'! Kirstine Oxycise! Staff |
