Well, I am obviously new here and I suppose I should make an introduction...

I have been looking into the Oxycise program for a few months now... Just milling over it... waiting for some money that isn't already tied down somewhere (stupid bills...).. I finally decided to go for it and get it. Afterall... thinking about it wasn't going to make anything else happen. I ordered a little package off of ebay (yay for ebay... being very strapped for cash, seeing what I wanted for so little made me finally take the plunge) that has the book, two videos and the communter tape (which I'll have to convert to CD as my car doesn't have a tape player)..

So I am waiting for it in the mail and can't wait.

So, my name is Heather.. I am a music teacher/failed college student who lives in Philadelphia (and works in NJ). I'm 24... well.. 25 on Saturday.. and have been struggling with weight ever since I was about 8 years old.. when my family moved from Ohio to Philadelphia... can we say major culture shock?!! I was actually quite a little peanut when I was a kid... my mom was always stuffing me with food trying to keep my weight up (I was sick alot as a kid)... and I look at myself now and it's like... geez.. what happened?

I suppose I could construe that I became overweight basically because my childhood was pretty awful... but I guess that is not as important as trying to figure out how to loose it.

I actually lost over 50 lbs two summers ago. I started this diet, through the internet, and yes it worked, but it wasn't very vegetarian friendly. (oh yes... and overweight vegetarian.. can you imagine? lol) I'm not vegetarian by choice, I am allergic to the antibiotics and hormones that are fed to livestock... so when I eat meat, including chicken, an infection breaks out on my fingers... (bad spot for a musician to have an infection).. and it's not that the medical community could figure out what the problem was.. me and my mom just sat down one day to try to figure out what causes reactions in me (I am allergic to... too many things, among them, most anti-biotics on the market, because I was so sick as a child)...

But anyway.. I'm a vegetarian who doesn't like vegetables, is horribly picky, not to mention restricted, in what I eat, who believes that mountain dew is liquid gold, and suffers from severe depression. Depression... horrible self-image- crappy immune system- restricted and retarded diet- weight problems- mountain dew junkie... does anyone else see a vicious circle here? or is it me?

Anyway... I could probably write a better introduction if I wasn't half asleep! Hello to all of you!

LR
(oh, and you can just call me LR instead of typing out my whole user name.. most people refer to me on the web that way.. )

Welcome, LR! I hope you receive your tapes soon. I love oxycise, and have had great results with it. I do have to watch what I eat, too. It's too bad you are allergic to things in meats, but good that you figured that out. I think Jill's book- Fuel For Successs--is vegetarian friendly. I haven't read it, but that's what I have read from the posts here. Do eggs and dairy bother you too?

Anyway, good luck! Jennifer

Hi LR....welcome to the message board! I'm an overweight vegetarian, too. I would go into more detail, but I'm in a time crunch right this sec. Just wanted to take a minute to welcome you, though, and hope to get to know you better soon.

Let us know when your tapes arrive and you get started!

Thanks for the welcome Jennifer and Kelly Smile

No, I eat eggs and dairy and I also eat seafood.. can't give fish hormones and antibiotics to make them bigger.. you know? lol... atleast I hope so. But they don't seem to bother me.

I am a big egg and cheese eater actually. I need the protien badly and those are basically my protien sources. Unfortunately, I still don't get anywhere near the amount of protien I am supposed to eat a day. I'm actually lucky if I eat two meals a day... one seems to be it right now (I've been sick) and my work schedule is just really busy. I basically work during when normal people eat lunch and dinner.. and it's not the type of work where I can stop and eat... I'm teaching private music lessons... there is no down time.

But the thing is.. I don't snack all day either. I don't really eat snacks... I just drink mountain dew... (it really is evil.. but I love it.. lol)

But also one thing that is preventing me from loosing weight is the medicine I am on for my depression. anti-depressants and such are notorious for weight gain. I've been fortunate not to gain too much weight back since I had lost so much... but one medicine I am on... I take at night because it's major side effect is knocking you out... if it doesn't start to work when it is suppose to ... I get the munchies. And I will not be able to sleep until I eat something. that part sucks.

I guess you could ask why I don't go back to the program that I lost 50lbs with... but I'm just so not motivated to go back to a program that made me cranky for weeks.. that left me with major headaches for a few weeks because of caffeine withdrawl and carbohydrate withdraw... and something that is so exactly precise in terms of portions and, etc... I just don't have the energy, or the time, or really the state of mind, to deal with a program that left me feeling quite crappy. I feel crappy enough as it is! Smile

Hi LR! Welcome. Smile

I deal with some of the same issues you do, so I sympathize. I think you're going to enjoy O! It's definitely a mood picker-upper.

I'm a sugar addict and I've found an eating program that's really helpful and doesn't leave me feeling crappy at all. Quite the opposite. Here's a link to the site, in case you're interested in checking it out...

Hope to see you around here a lot, LR. Smile

Dear Light Raven,
I like the humility and candor in your message.
The first order of affairs for any wight problem, obesity or anorexia is: Protect your heart!
I find that a diet including fruit and cereal for breakfast is essential for good health maintenence. A multi-vitamin helps ensure all the necessary nutrients are included. I love yogurt too.
Personally, I respect vegetarians frredom to choose what they consume. However, personally, I find it difficult to ingest enough protein and iron without meat, fish, fowl, shellfish, eggs, etc.
I know the value of HDLs, sardines, salmon, halibut, and on on. Omega-3 is of. definite benifit. There is also olive oil, peanut oil, corn oil, safflower oil and sunflower oil. Right now< I am taking flaxseed oil 1 gram 2xday.
I am a caucasian male, 45 years old, 6'6", and as of today 211 lbs. On March 28, my weight was about 252 lbs.
Much bycycling during the fair weather season, daily walks 1 mile plus, swimming, and my membership to the YMCA, which is co-ed and multi racial also provided much good.
Please write a friendly message od encouragement. I suffer from anxiety-Depression also, and could sure use it!
Sincerely Yours,
Jim S

LR, are you still with us? I hope that you are, and that you are enjoying Oxycise. I think it would help you feel much better. You probably know that there is such a thing as organic beef and organic chicken. I'm not sure how it compares in price, but if you didn't eat a lot of it, it may not be too bad, but could give you the protein boost that you need. Wishing you wonderful results!

OH I just found this posting and I hope your tapes have arrived by now LR. WElcome to our site! We all love it here and Oxycise! is one of the best things to come into our lives!

I don't eat cows meat either but I do eat lamb, ours are drugfree. I also drink Ensure to get all the vitamins and minerals I dont' get because of my Chron's disease. I like mixing eggnog and vanilla in a big wine glass! Makes it taste a little more special then.
I also eat organic chicken, no drugs there either.

I hope you are infection free in your fingers so you can enjoy teaching your music LR and all of us hope you are liking all your new Oxycise! stuff!

Ciao ciao,
Nancy
