Hi there. I just received my book yesterday and started today(can't afford the videos yet). My goal is of course to be healthier, but also lose weight. I have been hypothyroid for several years now and even with medication, a fairly careful diet and frequent exercise it's been hard to keep the pounds from creeping up. I'm looking to lose about 20-25 pounds.
I'm wondering about a few things: I was so wrapped up in doing everything right(facial expressions, tight buns, pelvic tilt...etc.)that it was hard to relax.
How important is it to do the positions perfect?
How can you be sure you are doing the pelvic tilt correctly?
It get's easier right?
I was a little light headed after my routines. Is this normal?
That's a lot of questions huh?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Hi Moviefan! Welcome to Oxycise. If you e-mail julie@oxycise.com she can give you some breathing tips that will make it all easier.

I think the most important thing is to breathe....so don't worry at this point about getting every little thing right. Just concentrate on the deep diaphramatic (is that the right word?!) breath.

There are several folks on here that are only using the book and they are having success.

Hope to hear more from you!

Kelly

Welcome from me too. I've only used Jill's book until recently. Now I have the commuter tape also, and that really helped me make sure I was doing it at the right pace. As for getting everything just right...I lost 30 pounds before I realized that I was supposed to relax on the inhale...so it works anyway. Razz Now that I do it right though, I can feel a lot of difference. It's a lot more of a workout.
Keep us posted! SmileSusanna

Welcome Moviefan! It took me about a week to get the breath down..just take your time. Work on the different parts seperately, then put them together...you'll get the hang of it. The breathing tips from Julie will help a lot!

Glad to have you here!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've just completed
my 2nd day routine and was slightly more relaxed.
I think I was able to inhale more deeply too, I'm not sure. I'll try not to be obsessed with all of the details at once. If anyone can describe the way a pelvic tilt should feel, let me know.
It's also very encouraging to read about everyone's success big or small.
Thanks again. Big Grin

I'm glad to hear that other people are trying to learn to oxycise with just the book. I suppose it will come naturally with time. I find that I'm such a spas that I haven't been able to do any of the body movements yet. I just concentrate on the breathing. I do it so slow that I've yet to be able to do it for 15 minutes. Those 3 extra puffs on each end just about kill me! I need to lose between 30 and 40 lbs. I've been trying to get this weight off for the last 10 years. I just can't diet anymore. I'm taking a whole different approach by trying to eat moderately, increasing my healthy choices and exercising, with a long term view of what I'd like well enough to continue doing on a regular basis. I watch Dr. Phil and I've joined the weight loss challenge in my area. I thought oxycise seemed the perfect activity for me. It's cheap, you get an oxygen high, and it's concentrated in the tummy area where I need it most. Gosh, I didn't mean to rattle on. Thanks for being out there. Oxymoron

I only have Jill's book and the commuter tape, and it does take a while to learn the technique this way, but it works! One thing that really helped me was to read Julie's breathing tips under the heading "Announcements" at the top of this board. Just remember that it takes everyone a while to learn it, and to get everything coordinated. In fact, I lost 30 pounds before I realized I wasn't doing the breathing quite right! I've lost 62 pounds since Jan. 17. Good luck!

I started in June with the tapes and book my goal was -100 lbs). I made sure I did it every day without fail. It wasn't until mid July that I looked at the introductory tape again because I was gaining inches, and learned I was not doing it right. With more practice it took another 2-3 weeks before everything fell into place.

I do mine lying down because of 2 neck fusions. So keep it up.

Keep breathing and try to do it every day. You WILL GET THE TECHNIQUE DOWN!!!

This is the first time I have posted a reply. I hope I did it right.

I hope you will continue to post, too. Are you having good results now that you're doing the breathing right? I do lots of Oxys lying down also, because of back and hip problems. It certainly helps!
