I have tried Body Flex but this is the first I tried O. I do not have a DVD or Tape only the book and I am a little confused. Can someone tell me - do you take the breath and then do the exercise? or like Body Flex do you hold your breath and do the exercise and then exhale? I am going to order the DVD - but I needed information to get me started.

Hello! Welcome to the board! Julie gives wonderful breathing tips at the top of the board, under "announcements", but I will try to tell you in simple terms, about the O breath. Relax, inhale as deeply as you can, then tighten your abs, buttocks, kegal, and do whichever position you choose. Take 3 more little inhales, which tightens the neck and chin muscles, and immediately exhale as if you are blowing into a trumpet. It's important to try to keep your lips flat as you exhale, and to blow out with force. Then, give 3 more little puffs to be sure you've pushed all the air out. This is one breath, and there are 4 breaths to each rep. One reason why pregnant women can do Oxycise- you never hold your breath. Good luck!

Thank you Susanna - if I under stand correctly you hold the stretch through the 4 different breat patterns that make a rep - is that correct?

Hi Goops (reminds me of a poem by that title that I loved as a kid) and welcome to Oxycise!.

Yes, four Oxybreaths make up one rep and a full workout consists of 30 reps. (120 breaths) The post Susanna recommended really does help. Click on "Newsletters and Announcements" at the top of the message board. There is a post near the bottom called "breathing tips" that is very good.

Thanks for your encouraging response to my goals for 2006 post!
