Hey guys,
I've been very bold and haven't been oxycising at all lately. i went out last night with two of my very pretty and very slim friends and felt like crap for the whole night. it has inspired me to start oxycising again but i never stick to anything, expecially when i've never gotten results for the programme. I'm turning 18 in May and would love to lose weight for my 'surprise party' so i dont feel like a whale in a skirt the whole night! do you have any advise how you've stuck to the programme? i would be gratiful of any help or advise you have to offer!

We'd like to help you! Do you need someone to encourage you every day? We try to do that here.
If you can just login every day, and post a little note telling everyone how many reps you did, that might help. Do you think that would work for you?

We're in this together, to make it work for all of us! SmileSusanna

I have found that making myself accountable every day is what has done it for me. I have a note book that I write my weight and my messurments in it everyday. You know I dont wnat anyone to look at it.... BUT it keeps me focased on what I am doing for myself not for anyone else. I would LOVE to send you an email of encoragment everyday if you would like. Send me your email and I will gladly do that for you ...... Not to mentiohn I could use it myself.....
this works in a big way... and I am happy that you have chosen this as your freedom.....
my email is ladybugrus@hotmail.com
Feel free to send me an email so that I can write you if you would like......

Hi, Kate! Big Grin I just turned 31, but I have some of the same feelings as you do--envy and such.

I think what keeps me on a routine is just finally getting fed up with my body and how I look. You have to decide that you want to look and feel good more than you want to eat whatever you want and have things easy. Some people are naturally thin--I know it's not fair, but if you don't accept that, you won't ever get yourself to work hard for what you want.

I was going around saying, "It's not fair, why didn't I deserve to be pretty and thin?" but then it dawned on me that while I was whining, I could at least try a different approach on the side (actually doing something about it). I know most celebrities have good luck on their sides, but there are a few who work their butts off, and a lot who take drugs and are unhealthy (as Jill mentions in the book).

Not the most upbeat post, but a realistic one. Don't waste your youth wishing it weren't so hard, as I did. Take control, and you'll be happier for it. I hope this helps a little. Confused

Start date: 22 Feb 03
Start weight: 154
Start size: 16 top, 14 bottom
Current weight: 150
Goal weight: 120
Goal size: 10 top, 8 bottom

I have fought my weight my whole life. I can tell you that my successes come from the inside. It sounds like you are to the point that you are willing to work a little bit harder for what you want. I had to come to that realization while watching everyone else pig out on anything they wanted. It doesn't seem fair but, that's the way it is. I use a journal as well. I write down what I eat and weight watcher points as well as calories. It all boils down to the calories you take in against the amount of calories you burn. I work out in the morning before I eat so that the benefits of the workout last longer. I also take time to do some weight training at home and O! at night. It finally has become a habit. I am finding that limiting my carbs is what I have to do to see results on the scale. It doesn't make me feel great that I have to accept this as a way of life but, I want to be healthy first and foremost.

Find lots of activities you enjoy. Don't be afraid to get out and get moving. So what if people see you. At least they see you doing something about it.

Accept this as a way of life. You are so lucky to be doing this at a young age. I am 41 now and have found out how hard it is to get rid of the weight at this age. It used to be so easy. Hah! Not anymore.

Do it for you and only for you. This keeps the rhythm going so that even when you are not happy with something a guy does or something your Mom says, you will not want to sabbotage your efforts. Remember that it is something for yourself.

Hold yourself accountable and set small goals. Take it 5 lbs. at a time and no more. The ability to reach small goals helps you to go on to the next goal. Achieving small goals makes you want to go even farther.

Visit the message board everyday. Make us hold you accountable and ask where you are when we don't see you around. Believe me, you get addicted to this board and it is worth it.

I hope some of this helped you out a bit and I really hope to see you on the accountablity thread.

Merritt Smile

What can i say? Thank-you all very much for your replies and words of wisdom and support. I never thought of trying to work on 5 lbs at a time. normally have one really big goal, like 30 lbs, and then realise it's not going to happen and give up. I'm going to try and work on 5 lbs at a time. Unfortunately i always have at least 4-5 hours homework every night so i'm normally just able to go online at the weekend so i won't be able to come on every day. but i'll try and come on at the weekends.
looking forward to hearing from you all again,
Kate

Kate,

If you have a calendar, you can get some stickers (little stars or something else that makes you smile) and put a sticker on the calendar every day that you do your exercise program.

You'll have a visual of what you are doing. I've found it really encouraging. I like seeing 10 stars in a row or even 3! It shows me visually what I've done for myself and I feel good. I make sure to put it in a place that I see it all the time so that I can keep reaffirming that I'm doing something good for myself.
