Dear Gang,

I certainly am impressed with how well many of you have done on O! I have been doing O since April and have had a great result. I have been able to stop taking all asthma meds as long as I do O religiosly once or twice a day.

However, I really started with the goal of losing weight and have had almost no success in this area. I have also drastically changed my eating habits and that has not really impoacted the weight either. I currently do level 2 followed by level 4 every morning before breckfast. any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Cymry! Welcome to the message board!

That's great about how much Oxycise! has helped your asthma!! I have a friend doing O! who has said it also helped hers.

My first thought on the weightloss is that maybe you've changed your eating habits TOO drastically. Do you think maybe your body has kicked in to survival mode (maybe you're taking in too FEW calories?) in order to cling to its reserves?

Just a thought. Otherwise, I'd say hang in there and keep O!ing. It's obviously benefiting you and perhaps it will just take awhile for you to start losing. Not everyone loses right off the bat.

Dear Kelly,

Thanks for the thoughts. The asthma thing is really an awesome result and so I will be sticking with it regardless. Your thought about survival mode is interesting - certainly something to think about. I am also wondering if I should break up0 the work oputs to two different times each day - that is harder to accomplish consistently though.

CYMRY -
I have been o'ing for around 90 days now and at first did not see any results at all, but remember in reading the book that sometimes the changes are happening on the inside - not the outside right away. While I have only lost around 8 pounds so far, people have started noticing the changes and have been asking me what I have been doing. Hang in there - I know it is frustrating - but you WILL see the differences!! Best of luck!

O for Life!

Thanks for the encouragement. I think you are right that changes from the inside sometimes take longer to see. It is encouraging to meet others who have lost (but not dramatically) over a period of time.

When I don't see the same results as the spectacular results that are posted by some people I wonder if I am missing something. I wonder if those people really got the results from O-ing or from diet changesSmile

But when I hear from someone like you I am encouraged! Let's try to stay in contact and compare notes every once in a while.

Thanks again for writing.

Hi,

I also have not seen much results and am frustrated. 5 weeks of faithful O'ing with some extras in there 7 dys a week. I want this to work so badly. I read so many of the success stories and am wondering will this ever work for me. I need to loose 25 lbs, after a hysterectomy I gained 20 lbs almost over night. I never had a weight problem before. At what point can you assume this won't work? I am not giving up!!! I did lose 3 inches total. No pounds, however. Why do some have such drastic results?? Help! Thanks!

PS How long to hear back from Jill or Julie?

Hi Vicki!

I'm sorry that you're not having the results you were hoping for. For one thing, the folks who have dramatic results usually have more than 25 pounds to lose. I think losing 3 inches is pretty remarkable though. I'd take that! Wink

I'm not sure why Julie's having a hard time getting back to folks lately. She's usually pretty good about it. Maybe her life is more hectic than usual.

I hope this helps a little. Please feel free to join us on the D2L thread, for daily encouragement and support!

Hi everyone

I've been doing "O" as much as I can including breathing during the day.

I haven't lost any weight but it sure looks like I've put on inches Frown Has anyone else experienced this?

I finally figured out how to do the breathing and now I'm finding it really hard. I wake up in the morning with a sore back & stomach. When I get home from work I do my "O" however it's very hard to lay down on my back, I get muscles spasms, probably from bending over my computer keyboard all day. I do have very bad posture also. Anyone have any suggestions?

Vicki, Marilyn....I'm sorry both of you seem to be having some problems.

I do know from reading various posts and remembering things Julie has said that sometimes it can take weeks (or months!) for some people's bodies to start showing visible results. Often the changes are taking place from the inside out.

Vicki...if you've seen some inch loss, that is great! That's really a better gauge than pounds anyway.

Marilyn, if you feel like you've increased in inches, make sure you are really doing the breath correctly. I remember in the past that some folks would force their stomach out when taking the breath rather than just naturally letting their lungs fill up. I really don't have any suggestions about the muscle spasms, though. Does anyone else?

I'm sure Julie will post (and answer e-mail) when she can. She might be on vacation or just totally swamped.

Hang in there ladies!

Hi Susanna & Kelly,
Thank you for responding to my post. I am NOT giving up yet! But it would sure be nice to see the scale move a little. It's nice to be in touch with all of you who have the same goals with oxycising. I am not sure how to get into D2L thread. But, I would love to get in on that, too. Looking forward to reading all the posts each day. Thanks again for the support.

well I just have to put my 2 cents in....I started "O"ing April 9. Very slow progress and sort of discouraging but I did find (like cymry) that my asthma had improved so much I would probably do this forever just to be able to breath. I noticed that I was tightening up, my clothes fit better in some places and not so great in others. I thought I was imagining that so I haven't mentioned it but what I think happened is the bulkiness moved especially to my stomach area which has always been my problem area. I did very slowly lose weight and a little faster lost inches. Then in early June someone posted about Sparkpeople.com. I joined that and except for Wednesday through Sunday of last week (while my kids were home) I have been very faithful to counting my calories consumed and burned and found that if I stuck to it I could lose between 1 and 2 pounds a week. I have lost 19 so far. I love the Oxycise for my workout and I also add walking and gardening but I really have to give Sparkpeople credit for giving me the tools to keep track of my eating. It wasn't until I really paid attention to my diet that I started losing consistantly. My mind easily deletes calories I shouldn't have consumed from my memory but when I keep track on Sparkpeople I don't forget and I don't often eat more than my goals. I'm sure I have gained a little from my vacation with the family, but now that I'm back on track with "O" and Sparkpeople I am positive that I can lose what little I gained and continue to my goal weight. I don't know if this will help or discourage those of you who are having slow results. I hope I have helped. Bonny

HI Hobbut: I know about be frustrated about the
non weight loss. I've also found that if I don't
exercise daily, my back kills me. I "O" 6 days a week. I'm starting to lose some inches, but I'm hanging in there. My metab. is not that great anyway. I've started this week not eating meat. Eating plently of fruits, veg, and pasta.
Let's hang in there together.
Keep o'ing.

Hi Cathey! Welcome to the message board. It sounds like you have a great attitude! I'm glad you're hanging in there.

btw....if you weren't use to doing much exercise, I'd be willing to bet you've gained a good bit of muscle from all that walking on the treadmill. That could be one reason you haven't seen any weight-loss.

Glad to see another "Arkansan"

Hello! I want to add my two cents, too!

Bonny, I'm so glad that you've had so much better results since you joined Sparkpeople! I think that's great!!! I'm proud of you for losing 19 pounds!!! AWESOME!!! Big Grin

Welcome Cathey!!! I'm glad that you feel like Oxycise is helping your back pain. It sure helps mine! Most of us have had to modify our eating habits to be able to lose weight with any kind of exercise. It sounds like you're making some changes, so maybe your body will respond very favorably! We hope so!!!

Marilyn, I'm so sorry that you're experiencing so much discomfort!! I find that doing Oxycise on the floor as much as possible is what works best for me, as far as posture is concerned. I do the floor positions over and over again, and have added some positions from magazine articles or other websites for variety. I do at least 20 reps on the floor most of the time! For muscle spasms - I find that if I don't get enough calcium and/or magnesium in my diet, I'm very prone to spasms. It takes the fun out of working out!!! I hope this helps!

Hi Ladies

Thanks for all the wonderful comments and suggetions. I have a feeling I have been doing my breathing wrong. Kelly on your post you said some people force their stomach out. I thought that's the way you were supposed to do that. I will try to change it and see if it's any better.

I've noticed a lot of the other ladies have also changed their diets to eat better. I ate so much on the weekend and I know that is also part of my problem. I will try to be better! Thanks again ladies.

Hi. I have been reading a lot about detoxing -- it is a long story, but I have read that when our liver is full of toxins, we can not burn fat. The ONLY way fat can escape our bodies is through the liver and no other way. If our livers are "blocked" then no fat burning. There are really easy, really cheap products out there that cleanse your liver. You can do a search on the internet and see. I am going to order something myself for my liver as I haven't ordered Oxycise yet (finances) and want to start off "fresh". Hope this helps!

The most common error people (especially women) make while doing Oxycise! is to not breathe with LOTS and LOTS of gusto. Really breathe in powerfully and out powerfully. Sometimes you make a lot of noise. You want to breathe as if you had been running really hard. Be sure you can feel the air filling up your lungs and pushing out your abdominal area.

Also, be sure to flex and contract your muscles with gusto and intensity. Some people like to add wrist and ankle weights while doing Oxycise!

Be sure to eat healthy and drink lots of water, too. No exercise can totally compensate for extremely poor eating habits -- though Oxycise! can help you stop gaining weight with poor eating habits.

Breathe with gusto. Eat healthy. Drink lots of water. Feel your body tighten up as you're bursting with energy.

Good luck to you and keep on breathin'!
