Hi,
I'm a veteran Oxyciser (9 years). It's the best thing I do for my body besides get enough sleep and eat properly. I have a friend who has had an aneurysm. She's interested in starting the program but has to check w/her doc first. Anyone out there recovering from an aneurysm and doing Oxycise? If so, are you modifying any of the exercises or using the Easy-Does-It program? Any input would be received gratefully.

Diane

I would guess her doctor would not like it. Why? The execise's are isometric and even though one is breathing constantly it still spikes the blood pressure really high. Most Doctor's do not like Isometrics for this reason. What many fail to understandthough is that even conventional weightlifting cause's huge spikes in blood pressure. Long SLow cardio is probably the safest thing for her to start with.

Keep in mind an aneurysm is a weak spot in a blood vessel it could be a vein or an artery. They are genetic and usualy if you have one youhave another one some place else.

I know that as much as I like this program it would be the last thing I would recomend to your friend. I would put her on a treadmill or eliptical with tiny little hand weights to use for resistance training. Seriously I would start her off with 2lbs. dumbells max and slowly prgress her.

The only easy day was yesterday!

Diane,

I don't know if you're still wondering about this. I'm curious what your friend's dr. had to say about Oxycise! I really don't have any advice about it, but wanted to acknowledge your question, and let you know that I noticed, even though it's overdue.
Please feel free to join us on the daily thread, since you are a veteran yourself! We would appreciate hearing your story!!!

:-)Susanna

... I'm not so sure about Oxycise spiking the blood pressure (?). I know that if you hold your breath in the process (which other programs promote, but not Oxycise) this Can and Will spike the blood pressure, but I'm not with the knowledge that this happens in the case of Oxycise breathing.

Also, if her dr. is concerned about it; going very very gently and working very slowly to a goal of properly expanding her lungs and breathing capability over time sounds beneficial to me…. not harmful. By the way, I mean JUST THE BREATHING part - Standing or sitting straight on the edge of a chair and completely relaxed while breathing is what I am referring to.

Not having the appropriate oxygen flow in her body (which so much of us are guilty of due to improper breathing) would be more harmful to her condition than training her body to function the way God had intended it... I would think. BUT - This is just my layman's logical thinking. I am, of course, not a doctor Smile
