I GET DIZZY AND A BIT LIGHT HEADED WHEN I DO THE BREATH. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG? OR WILL THIS PASS.

Make sure that your inhales equal your exhales. It seems like one way makes you yawn and the other way makes you light-headed. Maybe someone else will respond to this that remembers!

Hello! I think this often happens when we try to teach ourselves to breath differently than usual. It is important, like Kelly says, to be sure that your inhales equal your exhales. Make sure you draw in all the oxygen you can, but you also must exhale all you drew in. Just keep working on it, and it will become more natural.
Whenever I feel dizzy or lightheaded I just take a little break, and then come back and try again.

Feel free to join us on the daily thread for lots of support and encouragement.

Try exhaling longer or more completely.
This should help the dizziness.

I just started, and also got dizzy. I didn't feel very well after doing it, as a matter of fact. I also found it very hard to relax the abdomen enough to take a deep breath to start the next breath. I think I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone tell me how quickly they are going from one "breath" to the next. My VCR isn't functioning and so I'm relying on the book only right now.

Peggy, I'm not sure what you may be doing wrong, if anything. I think you may just need practice, is it possible you are trying to go too fast? Because this is different from most other exercises it feels strange at first. Some people have found that it helped to practice doing the breath alone (no stretching) while lying down. Do it until it feels more natural, then switch to doing it with the positions in the book. Let us know how you progress!

Actually, if you aren't used to intaking a lot of oxygen, dizziness is normal.

A person who first starts out on learning a wind instrument - the same thing happens, until they get used to their lungs being full of air and they gain control of the inhale and exhale.

It does pass with practice and some time. If you have to, lie down to do the breathing until you are used to it.

Everytime I re-start O I tend to get dizzy every once and awhile while doing it. I have found that exhaling all the way out does help. Smile
