They say exercising first thing in the morning can increase your metabolic burning rate up to 300%! Check out this article:

Also, you may enjoy utilizing some of these fitness "tools" (body fat analyzers, waist to hip ratio calculators, body mass index, etc):

Thanks for sharing Katherine! It's soooo hard to get up & do stuff on an empty stomach, but I don't think it would be nearly as hard to Oxycise then as it would be to do lots of other exercises. Susanna Smile

Susanna, Have you ever tried to Oxycise on a full stomach? Wink (I have! Eek) I find I'm strapped for time first thing in the morning. Guess I need to get up about 20 minutes earlier, hmmmm?

Yes, I have "tried" to do it on a full stomach! Ugh! I guess my habit was about halfway between meals, so I was neither hungry or full. Roll Eyes
However, I've done it now for the last 2 mornings on "empty" and it didn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. I've been steadily losing 2 or 3 pounds each week since I started 6 weeks ago. If that increases, you'll hear about it. Big Grin

Come on girls, I get up Monday through Friday at 4AM to do Oxycise. You can do it too! At first it was hard, but now it is part of my morning routine. Of course there are days when I feel like sleeping in, but I remind myself that it is only 15 minutes. COME ON< GET OUT OF THAT BED!!!!

Move the alarm clock to the other side of the room so you won't be tempted to sleep in. You will feel better ALL day by doing O! in the a.m.
I PROMISE!

Way to go, Carol C! Just do it one day at a time. Each day, tell yourself you are worth getting up early and doing something good for yourself.

Alicia, I like the way you're setting "Current goals" and ultimate goals for yourself: not too much too soon, but keeping the end in sight while you're at it! Cool

Four am sounds great! (only problem is, it's 1:30 AM already my time, so not today!) I've missed two days of O! in a row, but don't worry--I've had an ugly respiratory infection. I'm getting back on track today!

Well, folks, here's my results. I did my Oxy faithfully before breakfast, and didn't cheat on the diet, and gained a pound! Now, I think I'll go back to Oxy in the afternoon. Smile It's probably just that I'm too tired to do it with enough gusto in the morning...I'm a mommy that doesn't usually get enough sleep. Wink How is it going for the rest of you that were trying this?

Please don't fret over your 1-pound gain. I think it was you who said you had been seeing a loss of 2-3 pounds per week? It's totally normal to have fluctuations in weight. As long as you see a gradual, downward trend over a period of time you're doing fine. In fact, most experts recommend losing weight very slowly for permanent results -- at an AVERAGE weight loss of just 1-2 pounds per week. If you try to lose too fast, your body may backfire on you later.

So don't worry if there are some weeks when you lose more than that rate, and some weeks when you lose less... or even weeks when you don't see any change at all, or even a gain. As long as you keep doing Oxycise! faithfully, and stay in control of your eating, you will continue to see positive changes.

Jill said that when she lost her own 50 pounds she had ups and downs in both weight and inches, and that when you don't THINK anything is happening, that's when it's most important to be consistent about doing Oxycise!

Jill also recommends weighing every day... because it's actually normal for your body weight to go up and down a little from day to day, and even from morning to evening. If you know your own "range" it will be easier for you to spot real changes.

Another point: not all pounds are created equal.
If you gained a pound of muscle, that would be GREAT! The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolic rate will be. That means you will burn more calories even as you sleep.

Happy Breathing Everybody!

Thanks for taking time to give me some encouragement! Smile

I feel so much better, and even though I've only lost 16 pounds, I FEEL so much slimmer. When I look in the mirror I'm always surprised to see so much of me still there!!! WinkSusanna

Susanna, I'm glad Julie responded like she did. One day is certainly not enough time to evaluate how your body is responding to Oxycise in the morning. Likely, you have not eliminated dinner/food/snacks from the night before; you may have eaten or done something the night before to retain a bit of water in your system; furthermore, your body is not going to produce the same exact statistics every single day b/c we don't do the same exact thing every day, etc.

It probably doesn't matter when you Oxycise, just as long as you do it. I just thought the article was interesting and raises some valid points. I'm in the habit of O!ing early in the morning and while I'm waiting on supper to cook, so I'm off to O!

Sorry, Katherine,
I didn't realize that it looked like I had only tried Oxy in the morning for one day. I gave it a week, but just didn't feel as good doing it then as I do in the afternoon.
So you do Oxy twice a day. Are you losing, or maintaining...I guess I'm just curious how it's going for you.
I would still like to lose at least 50 pounds, so it looks like a looooong journey from here. Razz

Susanna,

I do my Oxycise in the morning also, because of the commute time I have and the lack of time in the evenings, it works better that way for me. I think Katherine is right, though, you have to do it when it is right for you. If you are too tired in the mornings, then do it when ever you are at your best. That way, you will do it with more "gusto" and get better results.

As for having a long way to go. I am right there with you. I have lost 44 pounds, but still have a small person (120 pounds) to lose yet. The thing that works best for me is to set short term goals. Ususally, it's 5 or 10 pounds from where I am at presently. If I look at the "big picture" (no pun intended) I get discouraged, because it seems undoable (is that a word?) but if I look at 5 or 10 pounds at a time, it seems much better. Forget your final goal, Just set a short term goal and work toward that. You have done a wonderful job so far!!! I would be thrilled if I lost that much weight in that period of time! Keep it up and you will be to your final goal before you know it. We will all be here cheering you on. Big Grin

I'm sure you're right! Short term goals are best. I just didn't bother to step on the scale for several months, and kept munching on chocolate chips and almonds, and drinking lots of pop....so when I finally decided enough was enough, I could hardly believe what I'd done! Thanks so much for your words of encouragement! It helps a lot!!! I'm so glad you've made good progress, too! Big Grin Susanna

Susanna, in reply to your question, I've just jumped back on board (for the third time since November), so I haven't done it long enough to get dependable results. I know in February, I did O! for 3 weeks faithfully and only lost a fourth inch in my hips and waist--but for some insane reason I had started bingeing on junk food (which I rarely do) like crazy--so, I pretty much defeated my own purpose. Don't hate me Wink but I really don't have that much weight to lose. I've never been big (I'm 5'3" and about 125-126 right now), but my hips and thighs are very flabby and full of cellulite.

I've never had a weight problem per se, but I literally have the calves and thighs of a woman probably 50 pounds heavier than I (very pear), and enough rear for 3 women my size! I'm more into it for toning and health. Check out my "story" on Getting To Know You (Tying Myself to the Horse!) and an interesting tidbit in this forum here on Forget the Pounds, Listen to the Inches. I can't really say my goal is "112-115 pounds" like I used to b/c the physical trainer in the above story changed my opinion about all that. My goal is inches and dress size. (Want to lose about 1 1/2 inches in my waist and 3 in my hips.)

Regardless of my moderate size, I LOVE success stories about weight loss and applaud those of you who have more to lose and are reaching your goals! I watched a special on TV today about a weight loss program with high results (Power 90) and literally cried at some of the results. It makes me feel so good for other people to see them do what seems the impossible.

The first time I ever did O! I lost 1/2" in my waist in 2 weeks and 3/4" in my hips, so I was convinced.

Alicia, love to see your numbers keep coming down! You'll get there! You've got a realistic approach and mindset. Smile

Katherine
