I'm just wondering what you all really enjoy eating for breakfast! I used to eat cereal and toast most of the time, but since starting my new eating plan in Jan., I have found that there are many other things I enjoy more. I try to keep it down to 300 calories, and include 1 fruit, 1 high-calcium food, and 1 grain.
My favorite combination is, 1/2 cup pineapple with 1/2 cup cottage cheese, and a piece of lightly buttered toasted oatmeal bread.
Another combination I have often is, 1 pancake, spread with a tablespoon of cream cheese, some applesauce or berries, and a little dollop of light whipped cream.
What do you start your day with?

I usually start with a glass of O.J., V-8 with some Barley Green in there and some coffee or tea. It's just enough for me as I've never really been too keen on Breakfast.

Most often I eat cold cereal (today it was grapenuts) or instant oatmeal.
On Saturday we always have something special like pancakes or muffins.
Ocassionally I splurge and have something like poptarts (I know, they are bad for me), a bagel with light cream cheese and chive spread, or toast with peanut butter.
I always have a small glass of juice with my breakfast.

When I first get up, I just have fruit. Sometimes a huge slice of watermelon, sometimes just a banana or apple. Then later in the morning (10 or 11), I have something more substancial, usually eggs and a piece of toast. Jennifer
Lately I've been having an orange (cut like a grapefruit) and then about an hour later a chocolate slimfast shake. I go through phases...like cereal or peanut butter toast. Once I went through a kick of having a turkey sandwich for breakfast. The protein really kept me going longer!

This is a very good question. I tend to have grapenuts because they keep me full longer. I did try to cut back on carbs and went to peanut butter and toast but, for some reason, peanut butter in the morning gave me a sour stomach. I found out that it seems to be the protein that does that to me. I tried turkey bacon and toast for awhile too and that did the same thing. Now, if I have peanut butter or turkey bacon later in the day, I am fine. Who knows what causes this? Certainly not me. I have gone back to my grapenuts for the most part. If I get hungry mid morning, I have an energy wrap which is peanut butter, honey, cinnimon, plain yogurt mixed together and put on a small flour tortilla. Then, you put raisins and a few grapenuts and wrap it up. It is really good and will keep you going for a long time.

My favorite breakfast is "POWER OATMEAL". I take cup of vanilla soy milk, heat to simmering then add 1/2 cup of quick cooking oats, 1 tbsp. of all natural peanut butter, 1 serving of chocolate protein powder and one packet of diet swiss miss cocoa. It is the best chocolate peanut butter oatmeal I've ever had. I call it "power oatmeal." Keeps me going all morning long! I also enjoy oatmeal cooked with vanilla soymilk and cinnamon and raisins added to it.

Most working mornings I have a RevivalSoy Shake and whole wheat toast or French Twists--these are dairy-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie pastry's that are great! Also like high-fiber cereals with fruit. Have found that whole grain high-fiber breads, cereals, etc, do keep you full and satisfied longer. I've been doing the soy shakes for about a year now and found that they have really helped with PMS symptoms. Hoping it will continue to help as I move into menopause. I'll be 52 in Oct. and have really started to realize the need to take care of your health!
I'm with Helene, I've never been much of a breakfast eater. I'm never hungry in the morning, so I usually don't eat. Back in the days of roller-coaster diets, I used to force myself because of following a certain plan, but I would always get sick to my stomach. My doctor at the time told me to listen to my body first and foremost ... if it doesn't want food, then I will do more harm by forcing myself than going with my natural instincts. That was some of the best advice I ever got
Now, brunch after church on Sundays on the other hand is a different story ... we usually go out to eat with other members of our church after service. I only eat carbs during dinner, so I have to stick to protein, dairy and no/low carb veggies for breakfast and lunch. I love mushroom and cheese omelets, so that's usually what I end up scarfing!
During the week I usally have a smoothie made with 1 cup frozen fruit, 1 cup water, whey protien powder and flax oil. This is a good way for me to get my protien, fruit and flax oil all at once, and its really good to! Toni
