Hi Pam, welcome to Oxycise!.

It took me years to come up with a food plan I could live with, but what I've been doing for over a year now has worked and seems to be something I can live with.

I write down everything I eat (yes, I enjoy doing that...I've always been a list-maker). I estimate how many calories I eat each day and try to stay within a certain amount at least 5 days a week. The other days I don't worry about it so I won't feel as if I'm "dieting". I don't restrict myself from any foods. If I want something, I just figure the calories and have it. Since I've reached my goal weight, I'm not quite as rigid with this, but I will probably stay close to this eating plan the rest of my life in order to maintain my losses. I certainly don't feel deprived in any way.

Good luck with your Oxycise! I look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Pam,

Welcome to the board! Please join us on the daily thread for lots of encouragement and support.

I use the ChangeOne plan from Reader's Digest. There's a post a little further down on this thread about it, called "ChangeOne and other Diets". I didn't have to completely change the way I eat. I only had to learn portion sizes, increase the good things, and decrease the bad. I still allow myself treats, or I know that I won't stick to it.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. I have the Change One book & I've done Weight Watchers before & was successful with it. I lost 50 lbs. But I've gained it all back plus some. I'll look at the book again.

I think this is from Susanna & ChangeOne. I'm trying to follow this:

For breakfast: (approx. 300 calories)
one serving of fruit
one serving of grain
one serving of dairy

For lunch: (approx. 350 calories)
one serving of fruit
one of grain
one of protein
as many vegetables as you like

For supper: (approx. 450 calories)
one grain
one protein
as many vegetables as you like

For snacks: two 100 calories snacks per day

I won't count calories but I will measure my grains in 1/3-1/2 c as a portion. Does that sound like too much?
