Welcome to Oxycise and the message board!
Don't get concerned after only 6 days. It might just be your body adjusting. Some people gain a little at first due to increased muscle (after all, O! really helps with toning). As far as losing inches.... it takes awhile for some people. Just keep working at it and I bet you'll see results you like in no time! Check out Julie's breathing tips to make sure you are doing things correctly. I can't remember off-hand which section they are in....someone help me out here! Come join us in the D2L (determined to lose) thread each day for encouragement and support! |

Hi and Welcome from me, too!
Julie's tips are under "Newsletters and Announcements". Be sure to read "breathing tips" and "feel the power". They're both very helpful. I agree with all that Kelly said. Just give it your best, and you should soon see wonderful results! It would be great to see you on the D2L thread! Failure is not an option, so choose something else. |

I love it when people write in and say, "I feel like my muscles are harder (or tighter or stronger).... or "I'm losing inches...BUT I'm also gaining a few pounds."
Because then I can tell them, "Congratulations, you're doing GREAT!" Any time you notice inch loss or an increase in strength/tightness/toning, etc. it's a good indicator that you're doing well (Regardless of what the scale is doing!) If you KNOW that you need to do better in the eating department, or Oxycise! more consistently or with more intensity, then go ahead and make adjustments. But if you feel like you're already doing all you can, you probably are! It's totally normal for your body's weight to go up and down from day to day by a few pounds. (As an experiment, try weighing yourself every morning and every night for a week and keep track of the results. Most people will see a weight range fluctuation of 3-5 pounds. Once you know what your normal "range" is, you'll be better able to tell when your weight gradually starts to go down below that range.) If you have been doing Oxycise! (or any exercise program) for a number of weeks and you are seeing toning and/or inch loss together with a small weight gain, you've probably added some muscle weight. This is actually a real benefit, since muscle burns more calories and the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn. But if you're looking better and feeling better and the tape measure is slowly changing for the better, then you're doing fine! Keep it up! If you want to put forth extra effort you can increase your intensity... breathe with more power and work your muscles harder. Or increase the frequency or your workouts. Or make some gradual, healthy changes in your eating. Or all of the above. Keep up the good work, Julie Oxycise! Staff (PS: Just as the scale can move up and down from day to day, so can the tape measure... but like the stock market, it's the long term results you want to look at.... it's a gradual downward trend that we're after.) |

Thanks you all for the positive comments and encouragement. I think reading about the breathing tips has helped me, and I also think that part of the weight gain was hormone related. (Don't you love those hormones!) Things seem to be starting to stablize and I love how I feel doing the Oxycise.
I'll start looking at the D2L thread once I get back from vacation. Of course, I'll be taking my Oxycise tape and book with me!! Marta |
