OK, I came across a site called Windsor Pilates and it talks all about how great this program is...anyone here tried it? I'm considering possibly getting the DVD to add to my Oxycise! routine, since it says you can see results quickly (in a few weeks) by just doing it 20 mins 3x a week. What do you guys think? Could it be worth a try? Thanks for your input. smile

Take care everyone, and KEEP BREATHIN'!

Susan,
I tried the Windsor Pilates and didn't like it. I found them dufficult, much harder than Oxycise. Some of the positions are really hard to do unless you have really strong abs. Also, the breathing technique was different.Breathing in and out through the nose. I prefer Oxycise I feel energized not sore after.

Susan,

I just looked that the "Step by Step" tape
and could have saved my husband some money
on this. I already have "The Method - Precision
Toning" with Jennifer Kries and it has all the
same exercises on it. I like the Precision
Toning tape, just haven't done it in a while.
My stomach muscles are just about non-existant
so I had better get the tape out and start
working on them. Along with O, I should be
able to get them in some sort of shape smile

Bottom line is, I wouldn't waste my money. I
think you can get just as good a workout on
The Method tape, and it is alot cheaper.
Just my opinion, though.

My daughter has been doing those very pilates and I muct say she has lost weight and inches. Especially in her stomach. I tried to do them but they were bad for my back because I have lower back problems. For her though I can't praise the program enough.

Gail and Susie, I appreciate the info. I'm still undecided. The thing is, I've heard more good things than bad about it.

I've not heard of The Method. Where can I read more about it?

At any rate, I won't be adding anything new until I can get rid of this infection and start feeling better.

Thanks again!

Take care everyone, and KEEP BREATHIN'!

I have done a pilates class at my gym and found it to be great. A friend of mine told me about Windsor and I thought about getting it in addition to my oxycise. I like oxycise and do think it is good for overall health as well as losing inches (esp. in the waist for me anyway) but I think the pilates would help as well. Has anyone else had good results with the Windsor tapes?

Well, for good or not is yet to be seen, but I have decided to go ahead and give the Pilates a try. I'm going to order them at the end of this month (after the credit card bill comes in), so I'll post results sometime after that. I CERTAINLY don't intend to stop O!, I'm only trying to enhance the wonderful results and since I've really seen a ton of postive stuff about Pilates in other places, I have to give it a try.

I'll keep you all aprised. big grin

Take care everyone, and KEEP BREATHIN'!

My friend bought the pilates machine, and she said the machine is a lot easier than trying to follow the tapes. Her machine was $200.00 from a popular homeshopping network. She suffers from fibromayalgia and swears by the pilates.

My mother loves her Pilates tapes. She's been doing it for about a month and just this morning she told me she could really feel her stomach tightening and beginning to flatten.

I'm also thinking of buying a set, but I think I'll wait til I master Oxycise. I'm not use to exercising and really don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

i have both a pilates machine and the windsor pilates tapes. the machine transformed my body like nothing else. went from a size 12 to a size 6 in about 3 months. got the tapes to supplement. they are much harder than the machine, but i like to do them occasionally to mix it up.

i'm in the middle of my first week on O, looking to lose fat from my hips and thighs, (my real problem areas). i love pilates and would recommend it to anyone!!! hoping O will take me thru these last 10 pounds!

Sugar,
I just started Windsor pilates along with Oxycise. How do you know what excercises to do with the machine?

I love the pilates program. But let me tell you why. I have such a problem in my lower back that just about anything would throw it on me. Even sitting on the wrong chair could do it. I've only been doing the 20 minute work out. You should know that I was so out of shape (yet thin) that I was pretty much is the fetal position doing them. After the third day I found I was walking and sitting straighter, not slouching like I always do. After the first week I was able to do the roll ups (situps) without any trouble. Every day I try to stretch my body out a little bit more. I'm not longer in the fetal position doing them, but not a straight line like the girls on the tape. But that's okay. I can now sit with my feet under me when I sit on the couch, I couldn't before without hurting my back. I can also now cross my legs again without hurting my back. I''m hoping in a couple more weeks I'll be able to wear dress shoes again. I haven't hurt my back since I started doing the pilates. I've been doing them for 5 weeks now (but skipped the fourth). If anyone is hurting themselves doing this program then they are not modifying themselves properly. The exercises don't hurt if you modify properly and they definetly make my back better.

Hi,
I had and started the tapes. Now I must tell you, it is a strict plan. You get a diet, you must follow 100% as her instructions tell you, it is a carb, protein & fat proportion diet. Also it is not 20 min 3Xs a week to lose weight. She tells you to lose weight you must walk 5Xs a week, and do the 20 min workout 3Xs a week AND the 60 min workout 3Xs a week. Who has time to do 5 walks a week plus 3 sixty min workouts a week PLUS 3 twenty min workouts a week. That totals 9 hrs of working out a week. But I am sure if you commit to it, you will see results.
