I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what is different this time from the first time that I did O! and lost all that weight and those inches...it finally occurred to me: I'm breastfeeding. *doh*

Are any of you breastfeeding and if so, have you noticed slower losses than before? Is my body trying harder to hold on to the fat for some reason?

JULIE~ Could you or perhaps Jill give me any input here? I'm really trying to understand what is going on, and why things aren't happening as fast as they did before.

Thanks!

Take care everyone, and KEEP BREATHIN'!

Well Susan, it's been quite a while since I breastfed a baby, youngest turns 21 in December
(at which time she is expecting her FIRST and
will be doing her own breastfeeding). Since
our bodies were designed to maintain the fat
after birth for the purpose of breastfeeding, I
would think that you are working at cross
purposes, trying to fight mother nature. However,
while Oing you are going to get all the other
benefits AND when you wean Sara, the fat is going
to FALL off of you. Nothing concrete to base my statement on, just my opinion. I'm sure Jill or
Julie will get back to you on Monday with
something "scientific".

Have a great weekend.

Gail

I could just hug you right now. You have no idea the sigh of relief I just gave. smile I really hope you're right about that. It is the only thing that I can think of, so I hope that's it.

Congratulations on soon becoming a grandmother. I bet you're going to have a blast...and congratulate you're daughter as well, being a mom is so rewarding...but you already know that. big grin

Take care everyone, and KEEP BREATHIN'!

I also have a breastfeeding baby (4½ months), and it seems to be so much harder to lose weight now than it was before I got pregnant. Some people (and doctors) claim that breastfeeding is supposed to help you lose weight, but I, and several other people that have posted on the Oxycise! message boards have reported that just the opposite is true! This time I noticed that one thing that was making it harder for me was that I would keep getting a false feeling of hunger/appetite. Once I figured out what was happening I started making a point to pay close attention to what exactly I was eating and how much, and asking myself if I was really hungry. The fact is even though I am still "eating for two" I don't really need to eat a whole lot more! razz

I appreciate any and all input on this particular topic. smile It does seem to explain why my body isn't responding to the O! the way it did before.

Thank you again for sharing.

It's so great to hear from you again! Congratulations on your little one... how old is he/she?

Everybody is right... the hormones involved in breastfeeding may cause some women to "hang on" to their fat stores.

And yes, it should be easier to lose weight when you and your baby decide it's time to quit.

In the meantime you can still tone and strengthen your muscles and give your body lots of extra O2.

Enjoy your baby! smile

My new addition is 4 months old. She's so beautiful! (She'd also going to be our last. Five is more than enough.):p

I am really relieved to get confirmation that it isn't ME! smile Maybe now, I'll be able to NOT get discouraged when the fat doesn't fall off like it did before. I won't be weaning for a long time yet. I LOVE the bond I have with my children, and I really do attribute it to having breast-fed them all.

Thank you so much, again, to everyone who replied. You all helped me realise that it isn't my fault that my losses are slower.

Take care everyone, and KEEP BREATHIN'!

One month ago I started doing O! faithfully 5-6 times a week. The first 2 weeks of doing O! I did it 2 times a day.

I haven't lost any weight and I eat healthy drinking 1 gallon of water a day, and I stop eating after 7pm.

I was starting to get depressed until I found all of the above about breastfeeding. I have a 5 month old and that's exactly what I'm doing. I quess I'll have to be happy with my comfy size 10 until little David decides he wants to graduate from mommy's milk.

Thank you so much for the insight. Smile
