I've been oxycising for about a week (had to take time off because I was infected with some sort of crud) and my pits REEK! You know...that bad B.O. And for some reason, it's mostly my right underarm. But anyway...I assume it's all those nasty toxins being released. I can't stand the smell of myself...I know other people can't stand it! Anyone out there experience the stink? And if so...how long did it last?

Thanks!

Ellie Mae,
Hi-- I'm sorry I don't have a good answer for you. I don't know if the increase in odor you are noticing might be due to your recent infection or a release of toxins, or possibly both.

But here's one website that might offer some additional information:

Thanks for that site. It was quite informative. I thought part of it might be from being sick. But I remember getting the stink prior to being sick when I oxy'd. I'll stick it out (and stink it out!) a while and see if it decreases and I'll try some of the suggestions from that site. Thanks again.

Hi, EllieMae!

Interesting-- that happended to me too. It was unusually pungent. I don't know what that website says--but I assumed it was toxins.I didn't want to prevent my body from releasing them, so I stopped using antipersperant and washed my underarms with antibacterial face wash (like Oxyclean). That works so well for me that I don't even use deoderant anymore. It lasted about 2 or 3 weeks for me. I asked about it here, and no one seemed to have had that happen. So you are not alone! I have oxycised since July, and the strong odor has not returned.

Well, this stinky subject is kind of interesting! Jennifer, I don't really like to use antiperspirants, but I can't stand myself without them...I wonder how it is that you don't need them anymore. I bought a "natural" deodorant recently, but that didn't work for me. Anyone else have some great product to recommend?

Susanna,

It's not that I don't need anything anymore, It's that washing with the antibacterial face wash on my underarms works fine. What smells is bacteria reacting with the sweat, not the sweat itself (or so I understand). I don't have a problem with the strong smell anymore, but if I don't wash with the antibacterial stuff, I have normal underarm odor. That's probably more than you ever wanted to know!

Jennifer...
it really is! No, thanks for telling me. Do you suppose the antibacterial soap is a "safer" thing than antiperspirant? I have used baking soda before, but it's not very pleasant and must be reapplied several times a day....not convenient or practical for most of us.

Actually, using antibacterial soaps is usually not necessary and is partly responsible for breeding all the 'superbugs' we have now. http://www.mercola.com/2000/jul/23/anti_bacterials.htm

Oops...forgot to add this. FYI...Antiperspirants and deodorants are also cause for concern. http://www.mercola.com/2004/jan/28/deodorant_cancer.htm
Personally, I use a natural deodorant that does not contain either the aluminum or the parabens mentioned in the article. It USUALLY works just fine for me...until the oxycise stink came! I'm hoping my experience will be the same as Jennifer and after a few weeks the stinkies will pass!

Exactly what are y'all talking about when you say "natural" deoderants? I've always been told that anti-perspirants are not good for you, that you need to allow the toxins to leave your body. I've had problems in the past with my body becoming "immune" to deoderant/anti-perspirants when I've used one for too long. The thing I've found I like best is the "natural" deoderant crystal that I buy at the health food store. It comes in a push-up container (like stick deoderant) and you wet it before applying it.

Still, I have to admit that I also like using some of the Avon brand anti-perspirants that are scented like some of the lotions and colognes. I just alternate between that and the crystal.

Alright, one more note--Another alternative to chemical antibacterial stuff is something called colloidal silver--I use it underarms and for many other health uses--and it doesn't create superbugs--it just kills stuff outright without the bugs building immunity. www.utopiasilver.com. Jennifer

Smile This seems to be an interesting conversation!! Roll Eyes
I have also used the natural crystal it has no odor and u wet it, I just found it to get kinda rough as the crystals fall away w/ use. I now am using herbal clear w/ natural lichen has no aluminum, dyes, or alcohol and u don't have to wet it.

Do not fear! Most people don't get the underarm reek problem. The only ones I have heard about are EmBe and me. And it did go away.

Welcome, Sherri! You should have great results with Oxycise. Let us know how it goes!

Welcome Sherri! Come join us in the D2L (determined to lose) thread!

Oh...and EllieMae....my crystal doesn't seem to have a brand name on it. It just says it's distributed by TCCD International our of Pompano Beach FL. It comes in a clear pink container and I buy it at my health food store.

Hey, hey now, Jennifer. Ellie Mae's the one with the problem, the little stinker. (Love ya EM Big Grin) I smell sweet as a rose at all times, even while sweating profusely (which I often do when I O!) Wink

Ooops! So sorry, EmBe! You both begin with E, that's why I got mixed up. Of course, I knew that you only smell sweet and feminine! Please forgive my mistake! Jennifer

Hi--

This happened to me, too! (So now there are three of us.) It was a while back, so I don't remember how soon it started or how long it lasted, but seems like the unusually pungent odor lasted less than a month. I just kept using my usual store-bought antiperspirant and washed when I had to. Sidebar note: I never perspire during or after Oxy, although I do get warm. Interesting, eh?
