A friend of mine has been telling me about Oxycise and ... I don't mean to sound cynical ... but I just can't see how it can be as effective as lifting weights and cardio. I would really love some more detailed information about the program, because my life would be so much easier if it is!
Here's my story: I'm 42 and just had my first baby last December (my darling Katie). I had about 50 lbs. to lose before I got pregnant and now, after many complications, that figure is more like 80 lbs. So I have a long journey ahead of me. Back in mid-May, I started another program that involves 3 days a week, 45 minutes a day, of lifting weights and 3 days a week, 45 minutes a day, of cardio - 6 days total. Am I getting results? Yes, I am and I feel much better, but ... I have to get up at 4:45 a.m. Monday-Friday to fit it in before getting ready for work so I can be at work by 7:00 a.m. I get home at 4:30 and have more energy than usual to do what needs to be done, but then I am dead by 8:00 p.m. and usually go to bed when the baby does at 8:30 - 9:00 if I can. The benefits are that I feel much better, I can be more active with my baby, I can get up and down off the floor far more easily, and I've lost about 10-12 inches since mid-May (to be fair, my eating habits still need a bunch more work!). I force myself to get up so early because I like feeling good and I am seeing results. But overall, I'm not getting enough sleep and I am so tired when the alarm goes off in the morning. So, when my friend told me about Oxycise, I was excited. 15 minutes of breathing exercise each day sounded a heck of a lot better than 45 hard minutes of lifting weights and cardio - and being able to sleep until 5:15 a.m. would make a HUGE difference to me. She lent me her Level 1 tape so I could try it and I did this morning - I was amazed at how easy it was compared to what I've been doing. But ... I honestly can't see how 90 minutes of breathing (the weekly Oxycise average) will achieve the same results as 270 minutes of lifting weights, pushups, kick boxing, aerobics, power yoga, etc. Even if it takes pounds and inches off, how can it be as effective toward body fat % loss, lowered cholesterol, lower blood pressure, etc.? I would appreciate any more information anyone could give me about the Oxycise program. I am willing to switch - in fact, I would LOVE to switch - but I need to be 100% sure it will be just as effective for me as what I've been doing, both weight and health wise. Thanks very much for your time |

YES!!! I think Oxycise is the BEST!!!
1. It doesn't take very long. 2. You hardly ever hurt yourself doing O. 3. Your body will really thank you for pumping all that oxygen through it. 4. You can do it almost anywhere. 5. You don't need all those weights and things, but you can use weights if you want to. ....... I could go on, but you get the idea. Oxycise can do wonderful things for anyone who will just do it steadily 5 or 6 days per week. You must use common sense though, when it comes to eating. Eat sensibly, and eat healthy, and good things will happen. Good luck! |

Very well said, Susanna! I only do "extra" exercise because my DD wants someone to do walk videos with her. I'm perfectly content just doing O!
Susanna's right about the eating, though.... You must eat sensibly! Listen to your body and eat what's right for you. |

Kelly and Susanna – thanks for taking the time to post back.
I guess I need a little bit of clarification. I thought I had read somewhere on this site that Jill Johnson changed her body with Oxycise even before she cleaned up her eating habits – the Oxycise program is that effective for weight loss. Now, I’m not looking for an excuse to eat nothing but garbage (although that would be nice, wouldn’t it?), but like I said, I am seeing results with my current program even though I have not fully modified my diet. I am working on it, but I’m making changes slowly – mainly because I know myself too well and if I make too many changes too quickly, I won’t stick with them. I’m in this for the long haul and I firmly believe “slow and steady†is what will win this race. I have a long way to go, but my eating habits are in much better shape than they were, so I am making progress. However, I need an exercise program that will deliver consistent results at the same time I am working on my diet modifications. My current program is doing that, even though it is more physically challenging and takes much longer, and I am not willing to give up my progress or backslide by switching to something that can’t deliver the same results. Of course, I know any exercise program, including the one I’m on right now, will work better if you have a perfect diet but ... I am seeing results with what I am doing now and I haven’t had to eat 100% “clean.†Can Oxycise do the same thing ... or, maybe it would be better to say: have there been individuals on this program who have seen a consistent weight loss, muscle toning, lower body fat %, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, etc. by doing Oxycise even if they haven’t totally modified their diet 100%? I guess what I’m thinking is if Oxycise isn’t effective until my diet is 100% “sensible,†then this isn’t the program for me and I should stick to what I’m doing, no matter how difficult it is. Thanks again |

I would say my diet is far from being perfect. Yes, most days of the week I count my calories and eat sensibly, but on the weekends I usually eat out at least once and don't worry about what I'm eating.
When I first started O!ing, I decided to become a vegetarian, so that was the only change in my diet. I'm not sure I cut many calories in the process, it was just different calories. As long as you aren't eating like crazy (as I've been known to do at times), I don't see why you couldn't use Oxycise! exclusively. Why don't you try writing Julie for advice on this? You can contact her at julie@oxycise.com. She should be able to help you more than we can. I hope it all works out for you! |

Thanks, Kelly - you've been so kind. I posted a message for Julie on the Jill/Julie forum thread and hopefully I'll hear from her soon.
Thanks again for all your help |
