I was wondering what type of exercise to compare oxycise to on my fitday activities area.

since "Oxycise! was shown to burn 140% more calories than riding a stationary bicycle. "
but that still makes it hard to figure out, was it a stenuous ride or slow & steady? etc etc.

thanks Big Grin

Hi,
I am sorry I dont have the answer for you. Try clicking search and writing calorie burn or something similar, I do recall reading in questions for julie and jill that it is 5-7 calories / min. I hope that is accurate and that this helps you.

yeah, i didnt think i'd get an exact answer as i would imagine its hard to measure calories burned, especially with a non traditional form of exercise lol I'll try searching, thanks Big Grin

I found this from one of the past messages:

RE: Calorie Burn

Jill has said that a vigorous workout (of any kind of exercise) will burn about 6 or 7 calories/minute. A more moderate, but still active workout burns around 4 to 5 calories/min. And a mild workout burns around 1 to 3 calories/min. So for the best calorie burn, use lots of air volume and "muscle power".

If you do the math, it doesn't seem like this adds up to a lot of calories -- 75 to 90 in 15 minutes.

But Jill has also written:

"While teaching Oxycise! to clients in person, I have had them weigh before and after the 15 minute routine. I even did this at [university where Oxycise! was being tested] when we did a study there last May. About 90% of the time, they showed a measurable weight loss of about 1/2 lb. I have measured many that have even lost one pound. The highest I have ever measured was one gentleman in his 60's who actually lost 1-3/4 lb. during a 15 minute Oxycise! session.

"So, you could say that Oxycise! burns 7000 calories/hour (1/2 lb. per 15 minutes), or even 14,000 calories/hour, but that isn't how calorie burn is measured."

By doing Oxycise! on a regular and consistent basis you will KEEP burning calories all day at a higher rate, because your metabolic rate stays elevated for about 24 hours after doing any kind of exercise.

Oxycise! also helps tone and build your muscles -- and the more muscle you have on your body, the higher your metabolic rate will be -- even sitting still.

Hope that helps.....Laura Smile

Wasn't there a post awhile ago on doing it before eating breakfast as well? That seems to help me.
