Anyone know of a good, natural way to rid your body of excess water retention? It's always a problem for me in spite of a low salt intake, but more so during my PMS days and I feel like the Michelin Tire Man. LOL
I don't want to take any over the counter stuff and would prefer to do it naturally, whether it's a tea, certain veggies, you get the picture. Any input would be appreciated.

Well Janice, the only natural thing that I know offhand that will keep water coming out of you is watermelon, unless of course you retain the water from that, then that wouldn't be good. I know massage makes the fluids flow, but that can get expensive.

Janice, I have problems with water retention...and actually take a daily diuretic. However, when I feel like I'm retaining a little more than normal, I try to increase the amount of water I drink. Really, the more you drink, the more you flush out! There are certain foods that help, too. Asparagus is a natural diuretic, I think. It would need to be fresh since the canned variety probably has a lot of sodium in it which would defeat the purpose. Tea also helps. I think it needs to be tea with caffeine, though....I'm not sure.

Those are just my ideas. Anyone else have any?

In a book called "Uncommon Cures for Everyday Ailments" this info is given for premenstual water retention:
1. Beginning in the second half of your menstrual cycle, make celery part of your daily diet for a week to 10 days.
2. Increase your intake of potassium-rich foods like bananas, and water.
3. Take vit. B6, up to 100mg a day. If you already take a multivitamin with B6, you may not want to take the additional amount.

Another paragraph says to steep a teaspoon of dried dandelion leaves in a cup of hot water, or saute fresh leaves in olive oil to tone down some of the bitterness, and eat as a side dish. Lastly, mix dandelion leaves with other types of greens for salad.

I also drink black or green tea for a diuretic, but I don't know if it has to be caffeinated. I prefer it so, and know it works!

SmileI went to a Health Food Store years ago because I wanted something natural to get rid of my water retention. The lady told me to drink more water! At that time all I drank was coffee and didn't much like water. Well, I cut way back on the coffee and started drinking water...lots of it. Now, when I retain water, I know I haven't been drinking enough of it. She told me the reason you retain it is because the body feels like it needs to hold on to the water because there isn't enough coming in. Makes sense to me. I try to drink as much as i can so I don't suffer from retention.

Hope this helps.

Wow! Thank you all for your input. The tea idea makes sense. I know if I have more than one cup of tea in the morning I'm good to "go" most of the day. And funny you should mention the water intake. I realized that I haven't been drinking as much as I normally do. Odd, especially since the weather has been so hot. Will start fresh tomorrow. I put three Poland Springs bottles in the fridge and will make sure I finish all three by tomorrow evening. And fortunately, I do love asparagus! Thanks again!

any day of the month, for over a year, I feel like I am bloated, feel like I have retaining too much water, I am overweight, but I honestly feel some of it is not just fat, but water,?
I do not know.
Most days I set out glasses each morning
and fill it with water, and I refill them
so I drink at least 10 glasses of plain water a day, on my off days, I drink at least 6.
I drink tea, but nothing else. I do not keep anything else to drink in the house. Well I have coffee for others, but I tell them ahead of time,I don't have anything to drink for them.
I take calcium supplements cause I am lactose intolerant to drink milk.

I eat salmon, chicken breast,no skin, with just boiled veggies, boring but healthy stuff
tuna fish, hamburger meat, hamburger buns a couple times a year, omletts, I love fruit, and I eat salads 5 x a week, even when I get sick of them.
I eat potatoe chips once in awhile and that every couple of months, a kit kat bar every month once, and that is when I have my period
and handfuls of popcorn when I go to the movies sometimes
For the most part, I really do eat healthy
I am so overweight still, mostly in my belly area, I am so frustrated, feeling so uncomfortable all the time, my belly is so big, I feel like cutting a whole on one side of my mattress, so I can lay my descending flabby rolly belly into it, so I can be comfortable,
it is that crazy!!! I do not know what to do.

Hmmm...it sounds like you eat healthy, all right, but there's got to be something going on. I wonder if you should write to Julie G., and asked her for some suggestions. julie@oxycise.com She might be able to give you some ideas. It's really important that you do a full workout of 30 reps at least 5 or 6 times a week, to see results with Oxycise.

Feel free to come and join us on the daily thread, for lots of encouragement and support.
