Anyone know of a good, natural way to rid your body of excess water retention? It's always a problem for me in spite of a low salt intake, but more so during my PMS days and I feel like the Michelin Tire Man. LOL
I don't want to take any over the counter stuff and would prefer to do it naturally, whether it's a tea, certain veggies, you get the picture. Any input would be appreciated. |

Well Janice, the only natural thing that I know offhand that will keep water coming out of you is watermelon, unless of course you retain the water from that, then that wouldn't be good. I know massage makes the fluids flow, but that can get expensive.

Janice, I have problems with water retention...and actually take a daily diuretic. However, when I feel like I'm retaining a little more than normal, I try to increase the amount of water I drink. Really, the more you drink, the more you flush out! There are certain foods that help, too. Asparagus is a natural diuretic, I think. It would need to be fresh since the canned variety probably has a lot of sodium in it which would defeat the purpose. Tea also helps. I think it needs to be tea with caffeine, though....I'm not sure.
Those are just my ideas. Anyone else have any? |

In a book called "Uncommon Cures for Everyday Ailments" this info is given for premenstual water retention:
1. Beginning in the second half of your menstrual cycle, make celery part of your daily diet for a week to 10 days. 2. Increase your intake of potassium-rich foods like bananas, and water. 3. Take vit. B6, up to 100mg a day. If you already take a multivitamin with B6, you may not want to take the additional amount. Another paragraph says to steep a teaspoon of dried dandelion leaves in a cup of hot water, or saute fresh leaves in olive oil to tone down some of the bitterness, and eat as a side dish. Lastly, mix dandelion leaves with other types of greens for salad. I also drink black or green tea for a diuretic, but I don't know if it has to be caffeinated. I prefer it so, and know it works! |

Wow! Thank you all for your input. The tea idea makes sense. I know if I have more than one cup of tea in the morning I'm good to "go" most of the day. And funny you should mention the water intake. I realized that I haven't been drinking as much as I normally do. Odd, especially since the weather has been so hot. Will start fresh tomorrow. I put three Poland Springs bottles in the fridge and will make sure I finish all three by tomorrow evening. And fortunately, I do love asparagus! Thanks again!

Hmmm...it sounds like you eat healthy, all right, but there's got to be something going on. I wonder if you should write to Julie G., and asked her for some suggestions. julie@oxycise.com She might be able to give you some ideas. It's really important that you do a full workout of 30 reps at least 5 or 6 times a week, to see results with Oxycise.
