Hi. I just started using the program today and have been doing the practice breathing excercises, I know it may take a little time to get it right but I m wondering if anyone can help with what seems like I may be swallowing air somehow. When I do the breathing not only do I tend to get lightheaded (which I know is because I m not pushing enough air out but I also find myself burping several times in between reps! Anyone have any ideas?? Helpful tips?? Thank you Big Grin

Hi Dawnmarie! Welcome to Oxycise!

I don't have an answer to your question...hopefully someone else will jump in with one. I just wanted to welcome you here and encourage you to come post with us in the D2L (determine to lose) thread each day for extra support and accountability.

Welcome to Oxycise - Being the medically oriented person that I am I felt compelled to look this up on Google.

The common reasons for swallowing large amounts of air (aerophagia) are gulping food or drink too rapidly, anxiety, and carbonated beverages. People are often unaware that they are swallowing air.

Perhaps you are trying to do the breathing exercises too fast. - Review the procedure again and try to slow down a bit and see if that helps.

Hi Lin. I tried slowing down my breathing as you suggested...but unfortunately I still had the same problem. However, I did realize that it seems to happen more when I do the exercises on an empty stomach so for now I guess I ll just make sure I eat a little something first! Thanks again for trying! Dawn

Hi Dawnmarie,

I don't have an answer for your question. Perhaps posting it at the board called, "Questions for Julie or Jill" (at the bottom) might get you an answer.

Good luck!
