Now bear with me. I just came upon all this today and have some questions.
First, it seems kind of odd to me that breathing can help you lose weight/inches. What exactly is invovled? I ask only because I am disabled from an accident in 2000 and cant do anything that would impact my back AT ALL. Id be in traction! lol! So the real question is, of course, does this work? Ive tried many other things, only to find out it's all a scam. I am presently doing Arkins, and someone suggested this to me as being a good thing for someone who's disabled. Thanks! I haven't been at it long enough to say whether it works well....but after only one week, I lost 1 pound and 1/4 inch in my waist and 1/4 inch in my chest! I was skeptical too and read all of the success stories and articles on this website. There was just too much good evidence not to try it! I'm sure others who have been here longer can answer more for you! Hope you stay with us!

I think it's worth giving a try! I don't know your health conditions, but it doesn't really strain any part of your body. Any stretches are only as far as YOU can go. And there are modifications for people with back or knee problems. It also helps you to build those muscles in your back, which could help you. The breathing really does work! I've lost 40 lbs. & 11 inches from my waist since November. I started out mostly doing O, but now that my strength is better & I'm lighter ~ I can do other exercises with O. I don't know much about the Easy Does It series, but that may be something for you to consider if you are worried about causing further injury to yourself. Good Luck!! Oh ~ I forgot to mention ~ Do a test at home ~ Breath in through your nose as much as you can and then breath in 3 sniffs on top of that breath ~ then breath out through your mouth as hard as you can and puff out 3 more times on top of that ~ DID YOU FEEL THE MUSCLES YOU USED! Now think of doing that for 15 minutes with toning or contracting specific muscle groups. That's what it's all about. Best Wishes!

I used Oxycise alone (plus a sensible diet) and lost 40 pounds in one year! I've since then added other forms of exercise (for a variety of reasons) but will never stop doing Oxycise. I truly love the way it makes me feel!

I think I will write to Julie and find out more. I just dont want to waste my money on yet something else which will get thrown in the closet, you know? Thanks for all the advice!
I tried the little exercise posted and yes I feel muscles contract in my rib cage kind of area. I still fail to see how your hips can lose inches on this! Which is where I need it most. LOL |

There are different stances or positions you do while breathing which flex different muscle groups. For example, the breath is done while doing a pelvic tilt (always). Also flexing of the arms and legs in a variety of different positions, sitting, standing, lying on the floor... As you are breathing forcefully you are flexing different parts of your body. The flex causes a higher demand for oxygen. When the oxygen gets to that flexed area it burns the fat & tones the muscle (because your basically doing isometric holds). But it doesn't just burn the fat in the flexed area, because ofcourse, your whole body is benefiting from the oxygen increase. Which helps to increase your over-all metabolism.
I know that Julie will probably answer your questions better than me, but I thought I could still go into a little better explaination of how it works. I'm glad you tried the breathing exercise!! Now sit on the edge of your kitchen chair, hold the back bottom half of your chair (kinda like a shoulder squeeze), straighten out your legs with the balls of your feet on the floor, pull your toes toward you (so that your legs are flexed) ~ do the breaths. Did you feel it in your shoulders, arms, waist, legs & hips? That's just one of 30 positions. A more advanced position would be sitting back in your chair and picking your legs up straight out with the flexed feet. That's what I mean about options for back & knee injuries.
