I am having a very unusual cyle this month, having just completed week two of O. Four days is the most I ever stay on my period, but this month it has already been five days and it is still fairly heavy. My sister commented that when she was losing weight and working out, her's became heavier too. Has anyone else experienced something similar??? I just hope I am okay...sort of worried, but not too much.

Funny you should post about this. I'm on Day 5 of my period and I noticed that it's heavier than usual too and lasting a bit longer. Not sure why either but curious!

Susan,
Thank you so much for sharing this with me....I am so grateful. Personally, I was thinking about stopping O because I thought something was wrong.
My cycle has been the same for years, so you can imagine how I felt with this months period lasting longer, and being heavier. Perhaps this is just a sign that some really good things are happeneing on the inside, to our bodies. Actually, I did not get cramps, swelling, or irritability. Thanks again....Catie

Same here. I've always had heavy periods with lots of cramps. Bit since O! no cramps but heavier flow. I think working our abs make the uterus work less, therfore less cramps & heavier flow.

I will agree that Oxycise does help with cramps! I'm not sure about the flow....seems like that got heavier before I started Oxycising...but maybe that's when it started. Hmmmm...

My layman's opinion is that this could just be like after having a baby.... For any of us that have gone through childbirth, you will remember the external "kneading" downward that you or your nurse did to help along the uterus. It was to move along the expelling of blood that needed to get out of there so the uterus could get on with healing itself back to size and normalcy.

When we O we are in fact doing that same "kneading", but with our muscles instead of hands. The exhale rolls downward and pushes, and that could be the cause for the heavier flow. You are actually getting all that stuff out of there by Oing.

I don't think it is a bad thing. I mean we are keeping our organs and parts oxyginated and strong. That in turn makes them all function better and like they are suppose to.

So often things like Endometriosis, and other like illnesses, are in place with blood not escaping out of our bodies. The blood gets stuck in pits, or goes into other directions within where it doesn't belong. Who wants that?! I think most women would prefer it to come out, so I wouldn't worry about the heavier bleeding. Your sister's comment about it happening to her also during weight loss could also be a contributing factor. And the cramping is gone?! That is a big YEA!!!!!

As we get older, our cycles do change. That can be affected by hormone levels and even by our emotions.
I am 47 and perimenopausel so have been experiencing these symptoms. I have also recently been diagnosed with hypothyroid (that's the low side of the scale)which can also affect our cycles.
While I've always been "irregular", my periods were always consistently five days--start heavy and get light. Now they can be as long as seven days--very light or extremely heavy (hate that!!I missed 2days of work this month).
It can be puzzling and disconcerting, but I personally can't blame it on my new O! routine.

Just a thought--hope that wasn't too much info. LOL

Okay...how about all that breathing is increasing circulation and oxygen to everywhere, which leads to increased blood flow during your period. OR....when we're on our periods, it's a natural cleansing time for us. Mabye all the breathing is encouraging an increased cleansing? Didn't someone on here say they had worse BO since oxycising? That's a cleansing of toxins too. It's just a theory and I got nothin to back it up! Big Grin
