This may not seem like a problem to you but since I've been doing O! my biceps are huge!!!
A simple flex makes them bulge & I don't want to have biceps bigger than my hubby's ;( In fact the arm circumference is losing very slowly if at all. Part of the problem is that I need to lose the fat on the underarm. Laura gave me one exercise to help but if any others have any ideas, please let me know! Shelby PS Julie please put your two cents in as well if you see this post. |

Hmmmm....I don't really have an answer to your problem. That's one area I don't measure. However, I can tell that I've firmed up and my biceps are a little bigger (maybe just more defined since there might be less fat).
Did Laura suggest the "french press" for toning up the lower part? That's really the best exercise I know of for that. I also think any of the O! positions that really stretch your arm above your head would help with that, too. (like the crescent stretch or overhead pushes in L2) I'm curious to see what others have to say about this.... Kelly |

I'm anxious to hear some opinions as well. I was sure they were getting more muscular but when my daughter made a comment, it got me thinking about it. Basically because she is so reserved & she doesn't make comments any old way unlike her sister.

I started doing the exercise Laura suggested. I feel it working since I use a 2 kilo weight. I guess it's the french press. You hold a weight in your hand & flex the back of your arm while you straighten your arm. You're in a slightly bent position holding the bench with your free hand.
Is there an O! solution tho? I guess the shoulder squeeze might do the same thing. What do you think? Shelby |

Shelby..the tricep kickback and the French Press are two different exercises. The tricep kickback you do standing, slightly bent (like in the illustration link I sent you) and you bend your arms back from the elbow. The french press is done sitting up straight, or laying down on a bench...one arm above your head...as straight as you can get it...weight in that hand and bend back to about a 90 degree angle...if you use your other hand to support your raised arm, you can feel that muscle working! You can also do them at the same time, but I like when I can use one arm to support the other.

Hi Shelby,
It's probably the fat -- not the muscle, that makes our arms look bigger than we would like. Muscle takes up less room than fat.. and burns more calories. So adding muscle is a win-win situation. If you have the Oxycise! "Abs & Upper Body" workout, there are some great body positions that help tone the arms. One of my favorites is the "Big Dipper" (much easier to explain if you can just see Jill do it!) in which you sit in a chair, holding on to the front edge with your hands, then scoot your body forward until your rear end slides off the chair, and you are supporting your body weight with your arms. The farther you slide off the chair, the more challenging the exercise. This is a great exercise for toning the triceps area. Another point: You can have strong, well-toned muscles and yet still have excess fat covering those muscles. Keep toning the muscles. But also work on burning the fat through faithful Oxycise! combined with healthy eating. You may want to measure the biceps area in order to keep track of your progress. Keep me posted on your results! Happy Breathing! |
