Hi, all!

Every now and then someone mentions using wrist or ankle weights. I assume that these are wrapped around your wrists or ankles while doing O. I believe some of you have also used light free weights in certain positions.

My questions are:

Has this helped you progress a little faster?

And how heavy should the weights be? Sometimes someone will write about weights, and it's not clear to me if the weight mentioned is TOTAL for two weights, or PER WEIGHT. Like, someone might mention 2 1/2 lb. weights and I don't know if it's two half-pound weights or two 2.5-lb. weights. Thanks for any clarification!

Hi, P.A.,

I use wrap around weights about every other workout- some people use them every time. At first I had 1 lb weights for each wrist and 3 lb weights for each ankle. But I didn't feel any soreness the next day, so I added another 1 lb weight to each wrist- making 2 lbs on each wrist. That works really well for me, I feel just enough soreness to know it's working, but not too much to keep me from doing it the next day. I feel like it does increase my progress, but I don't have "proof". I'm know that it firmed me up very quickly, I have better muscle definition than ever in my life.

You really have to try it to figure out how much weight works best for you. Hope that helps!

I'm still on the 1lb. each weights. The heavier the weights you have, the "bulkier" you will get. I still want to lose a few pounds, not bulk up what I have right now Wink. Personally, if I were to add more weights right now, it would be arm. I have lost the majority of my inches in my upper body, and not as much lower. I love the tone that I have received from L1, and 1lb. weights, but would feel good by adding another pound to them. I also have added extra arm presses to some of the other L1 positions that didn't do anything with the arms. I LOVE to see the tone that it gives me! Big Grin
Have a beautiful day Cool. Hope this helps?

Oops! And I do use weights every workout, since they are only 1lb, for "extra resistance" mainly.

Sorry ladies, I should've done my O!ing before I posted! (I would've been more alert to get it all right in 1 post instead of 3!) I use 1lb. arm and ankle weights every workout, then when I take my walk, every other time, I take my ankle weights and move them to my arms for extra resistance during my arm movements. I really should have 2 lbs. on my legs for walking anyway!

I just have some little 5 pound dumbbells that I use whenever they'll work with a position. My upper arms were never real fat, but they're "floppy" when I wave or move in that kind of way....eeeeewwwwww!!! Eek So, I use a total of 10 pounds with most of my workouts, and I just feel like it has helped some. I think the kind of weights that you strap on would be easier to use, but I just already had these.

I use wrap-around weights on my ankles and wrists. Each weight is 2.5 pounds, so I have a total of 10 pounds on my body while doing L1. I use my weights every time I work out. I use L1 7 days a week. It really has helped me accelerate my inch and weight loss. I now see definition in my arms and legs that I haven't seen in years. I would definitely give it a try.

Hope this helps...

I decided to read new messages right before doing Oxycise today so I took everyone's advice to use weights. I wore 3 lb ankle weights and used a 5 lb weight for the ones where I thought they would help. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks, everyone, for all the replies! It's very helpful to see what you all are doing. I am definitely going to look for some wrap-around weights. I also have some light free weights and might alternate those in. Sounds like a good way to push through a plateau.
