I can't believe August is almost here!! The summer is flying by!
I had my O! done by 6:30 this morning. I woke up at 4:00 and never could go back to sleep. So... rather than fight it, I spent some time praying and thinking then got a head start on my day. I keep being amazed with my progress at my weigh-ins. This week I was down another half inch (in the hips) and a pound and a half! I never dreamed I would get to this point so painlessly. I guess I just finally hit on the right combination (that I can easily live with the rest of my life). It's really pleasant outside right now. It's supposed to get into the lower 90s today and be sunny. Does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? We're supposed to be meeting our older DD and her daughter for supper tonight. Chinese buffet. I'll try to eat sensibly, but I'm not making any promises! Hope all of you have a fun and safe weekend. |

Hi Shelby! I'm counting calories (which basically means I'm eating what I want, but controlling my portions). Usually once or twice a week I splurge and don't worry about my calorie count. This keeps it from feeling like I'm "dieting". The days I count, I try to stay under 1500 calories. So far, I've been quite satisfied with what I can consume for that amount. When the time comes that I stop losing?.... well, I'll just know that's where my body needs to be.
Since January 1, I've lost 47.5 pounds! (and numerous inches) The first 5 months of that time I wasn't doing any form of exercise other than Oxycise!. I only added walk videos this summer because DD wanted me to do them with her. I hope you have fun while you're gone, Shelby! Is it two weeks or just one? Let us know when you return. |

Let me go ahead and make a few other comments about my calorie counting. I didn't start out with the intention of counting calories. I started out taking Merritt's advice (we miss you on here Merritt!) of writing down everything I eat. I was doing this in an effort to see just how much I ate during the day...and boy, was I surprised! Once I started doing this, I realized it would be easy to go ahead and calculate my calories while I was at it.
One of my friends recently made the comment that if she wrote down everything she ate (and counted the calories), she would think about food all the time!! I came to a realization a long time ago. It really doesn't matter how much or how little I eat. I STILL think about food far more than I should. However, I feel like now those thoughts are a little more constructive. Yes, my thoughts might turn to food often during the afternoon, but I'm usually plotting and planning what would be a good healthy dinner. I don't know what prompted me to share this, but maybe it will help someone else who thinks they are the only one who obsesses about food all the time! I still obsess, but I don't let it control me. |

Hello Ladies!
Kelly, I agree with you 100%. I think about food way more than I should, too, but when you have a winning plan, it's not so hard to keep things under control. Congratulations on your progress for this week!!! We went to a spectacular Mexican resturant last night, and I thought I was pretty careful, but the scale says I wasn't. However, I know it could be water retention, too, so I'll not fret about it. We have some friends coming for the late afternoon, and supper, so I'm thinking about FOOD!!! It's okay though. I have things pretty well planned, and some things prepared. It was 100 degrees here yesterday, and today is hot and muggy. I did my O last night, so my calendar looks GREAT for this week!!! |

Well folks I am one happy gal again ~ the pathology came back for my tongue and I am cancer free!!!
Kelly my book on the '14 Superfoods' arrived and I am knee deep into it, I really like it! I have learned more about blueberries in the last hour than I thought was possible. I too count calories and don't go over 1500 on a normal day, so I make 'normal days' 6 x a week. I used to write it all down until I found http://www.fitday.com (which is FREE) and I write it down there with their calculations and pie charts. IT helps me to see it clearly with the pie charts and percentages. Kelly I am glad to hear you eat 1500 cal because last winter I was eating 1700 and struggling to get under that, but I have broken the code! I eat brocolli, salmon and blueberries daily and I am in a good place now. This book is really helping too! Must dine and dash so see you all tomorrow! Nance |
