You've heard of books like "Think and Grow Rich" and "The Power of Positive Thinking." Is it possible to think yourself thin?

Recipe Ideas

Think green! Here's a salad combination for you to try:

Baby greens
Tomatoes
Raw nuts (a handful per serving)
Dried cranberries
Raisins
Small amount of grated Feta cheese
Optional: Grilled chicken

Dressing:
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
spoonful of dijon mustard
sprinkle of garlic powder
pepper to taste


OTHER SALAD TIPS:

If you have a favorite bottled salad dressing, but would like to reduce the fat content per serving, here's a trick for cutting the fat content in half.... just don't use twice as much dressing! ;-)

you can blend 1/4 cup of your dressing with 1/4 cup of fruit juice (for clear dressings) or fat free half and half (for creamy dressings).

Some bottled dressings taste better than others. Here are some favorites recommended by others:

Restaurant Style WishBone Raspberry Hazelnut Vinaigrette (80 calories, 5 g fat per 2 Tbsp)
Girard's Light Caesar (90 calories, 8 g fat per 2 tablespoons)
"Lighten Up" Newsman's Own Light Balsamic Vinaigrette (45 calories, 4 g fat per 2 tablespoons)

* For better nutrition choose darker green lettuce (such as romaine) or add spinach for your base and then add in some salad ingredients that add to the nutrient content (fruits, beans, shredded carrots, etc.)

* Raw nuts contain lots of nutritional value and "healthy" fats. They can add lots of crunch and flavor to salads. But use them sparingly since they're also high in calories.

* If you like blue cheese or feta cheese or parmesan cheese...you can add a sprinkle--a little goes a long way!
