OXYCHAT! *************** August 1, 2005 Welcome to the OxyChat! Newsletter, a publication to help you in your quest for the body you want and deserve! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *A* Is Oxycise! as Good as Traditional Exercises? *B* Former Athletes Who Prefer Oxycise! *C* Sharing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I danced professionally in a Jazz company in San Francisco and a modern company in Washington, DC. I don't have time to take classes now since I work and raise 2 daughters. Someday I will return to dancing, but in the interim, Oxycise! keeps me toned, my metabolism high and I FEEL better! It is so nice to only have to squeeze out FIFTEEN minutes and not 45 from my day!" Thanks! Megan, Seattle, WA. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *A* Is Oxycise! as Good as Traditional Exercises? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ QUESTION from the Message Room: "A friend of mine has been telling me about Oxycise! and ... I don't mean to sound cynical ... but I just can't see how it can be as effective as lifting weights and cardio. I would really love some more detailed information about the program, because my life would be so much easier if it is! "...Back in mid-May, I started another program that involves 3 days a week, 45 minutes a day, of lifting weights and 3 days a week, 45 minutes a day, of cardio - 6 days total. Am I getting results? Yes, I am and I feel much better, but ... I have to get up at 4:45 a.m. Monday-Friday...I force myself to get up so early because I like feeling good and I am seeing results. But overall, I'm not getting enough sleep and I am so tired when the alarm goes off in the morning. "So, when my friend told me about Oxycise!, I was excited. 15 minutes of breathing exercise each day sounded a heck of a lot better than 45 hard minutes of lifting weights and cardio - and being able to sleep until 5:15 a.m. would make a HUGE difference to me. She lent me her Level 1 tape so I could try it and I did this morning - I was amazed at how easy it was compared to what I've been doing. But ... I honestly can't see how 90 minutes of breathing (the weekly Oxycise! average) will achieve the same results as 270 minutes of lifting weights, pushups, kick boxing, aerobics, power yoga, etc. Even if it takes pounds and inches off, how can it be as effective toward body fat % loss, lowered cholesterol, lower blood pressure, etc.? "...Have there been individuals on this program who have seen a consistent weight loss, muscle toning, lower body fat %, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, etc. by doing Oxycise! even if they haven't totally modified their diet 100%? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ REPONSE: We believe that all kinds of exercise and movement are healthy and we promote living a healthy, active lifestyle. Aerobics, jogging, swimming, cycling, walking, weight lifting, hiking, yoga....all these activities are very healthy and provide different benefits, including cardiovascular health, flexibility, strengthening, stress-relief, etc. The very best exercise, or exercises, for you are the ones you are willing to DO on a regular basis! This may be where the greatest value of Oxycise! lies.... people who are not able (or willing) to participate in traditional forms of exercise on a regular basis, may find that Oxycise! is something they CAN do every day. Oxycise! provides a combination of aerobic benefits, muscle-strengthening and toning, improved flexibility and stress relief -- all in one exercise, and without heavy impact. We have actually received a number of testimonials from customers who said they had already been doing traditional kinds of exercise, for years in some cases, then switched to Oxycise! and had equally good, if not better, results. This is pretty impressive. Some of the most interesting examples of these kinds of testimonials have come from athletic individuals who were already in good shape, yet saw real improvements after doing Oxycise! (See http://www.oxycise.com/FAQ/athletes.htm ) But many, many "non athletes" have also achieved excellent results in weight loss and fitness improvements with Oxycise! -- our "Success Stories" pages are filled with hundreds of true accounts from people of all ages and fitness levels. Jill Johnson has used Oxycise! exclusively for fitness and weight maintenance for over 15 years. (Due to a disc injury in her back she is not able to do high impact kinds of exercise). Many customers say they do the same, using Oxycise! alone. Others like to combine Oxycise! with other activities, such as walking or weight lifting (using the Oxycise! breath as they do their workout). There are as many different ways to incorporate Oxycise! into one's lifestyle as there are different individuals. When a customer asked, "Do I need to do other kinds of exercise in order to get good results, or can I do Oxycise! alone?" Jill Johnson responded, "If you really enjoy going to the gym (or doing aerobics, or any other type of exercise) by all means continue. All types of movement are healthy. But if you are going to the gym out of guilt, let go, and focus on Oxycise!" The eating plans that our customers use vary between individuals. Many people follow Jill's "Fuel for Success" guidelines (lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains... mostly plant foods). Others use Weight Watcher's or Richard Simmons or "Change One" or various other healthy eating plans. Still others say they have simply tried to be more careful or aware of what they are eating, without making major changes. (We definitely frown on "quick fix" diet schemes. Instead, we promote long-term lifestyle changes.) There are lots of ways to eat healthy. Choose a plan YOU can live with. I will be honest and tell you that we occasionally have a customer who will write and ask, "Why isn't this working for me?" We really don't know, but in these cases we do our best to help them analyze what is happening and offer suggestions to help improve breathing techniques and help them get results. As an added protection to the customer, all Oxycise! products carry a 30-day money back guarantee. I personally believe the difference between those who achieve good results and those who don't might be due to whether an individual is really BREATHING (with lots of ab power and energy) and really flexing and working their muscles in every body position VS. someone who is barely breathing and just "going through the motions" of the body positions. Adding real energy and effort to Oxycise! is the best way to see good results. The other factor, of course, is dietary habits.... no exercise program will work as well as it could (in terms of weight loss) if an individual is "sabotaging" their own efforts by taking in more calories than their body is burning up. So to summarize, yes, we really believe that people can do amazing things with Oxycise! Like many other pursuits it does take effort and consistency to succeed, but we already have evidence, based on the experiences of thousands of customers, that Oxycise! really works! Julie Gudmundsen OxyChat Editor PS: You might try conducting your own experiment -- try Oxycise! for a month and see how it compares with your current fitness regimen. Are you able to maintain your muscle tone? Energy? Strength? If so, you might be able to substitute some--or maybe all--of your early-morning workouts with Oxycise! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ QUESTION: Is Oxycise! really a cardiovascular workout? JILL JOHNSON: Yes. Have you ever thought about why your heart pumps during traditional cardiovascular workouts? -- because you are breathing hard and oxygen is carried to the rest of your body through the bloodstream -- that means your heart has to pump harder to get it delivered When you Oxycise! your heart rate goes up immediately. I've had several athletes write me that they reach their target heart zone while doing Oxycise! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ General "Success Stories": http://www.oxycise.com/Success/index.htm Testimonials about improved blood pressure and heart rate: http://www.oxycise.com/Success/heart.htm Testimonials about improved cholesterol levels: http://www.oxycise.com/Success/cholesterol.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *B* Former Athletes Who Prefer Oxycise! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** SUE *** "As an ACE certified fitness instructor who has taught up to 9 classes a week for over 12 years, I can tell you that Oxycise! works as well, if not better, than most 'traditional' aerobic workouts. When done properly, the Oxycise! breathing technique forces much more oxygen into the body than jumping around on steps, or floors. HDL cholesterol is the good cholesterol in our bodies which helps to rid our bodies of the LDL cholesterol. HDL is only increased through aerobic exercise. My HDL cholesterol is now 72, which is very good, and when I was teaching 9 classes/week my HDL was 61. For it to increase by 11 points is incredible and Oxycise! is the only aerobic exercise I have been doing for the past two years. Oxycise!'s abdominal tightening technique has also healed my "recti-split" that was caused by having two very large babies. I was never able to heal my 'recti-split' with traditional abdominal work. I have also lost 12 pounds and kept it off in these last two years. Oxycise! energizes me much more than all those aerobic classes did and it has also controlled by rheumatoid arthritis. I have not had a bad flare-up since I have been Oxycising. As Julie has stated, 'aerobic' means 'with oxygen' and in order to burn fat a lot of oxygen must be present. In traditional aerobic classes, you don't even start burning fat until about 12 minutes into the workout because you are increasing your oxygen intake at a very slow pace initially. And many people work at a much higher level than they should and end up working anaerobically, thus causing a shortage of oxygen and consequently not burning fat. Good luck to all of you who are making Oxycise! work for you. It can and it will work for everyone IF DONE PROPERLY. "If this program didn't work, I would have gone back to traditional aerobics a long time ago. Doing Oxycise! keeps me in good shape and allows me to be there for my family. They are the most important thing in my life right now and I am glad I don't have to run off to the gym several times a week to work out. This program has been the greatest thing that has happened to me in the way of fitness since 'sliced (whole wheat) bread'..." Sue Madal ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** LISA *** "I have been doing Oxycise! for about 2-1/2 weeks now. Being a Personal Trainer, Assistant Manager, and the club Aerobics Coordinator, I stay in pretty good shape. But I quit doing all forms of cardio and weight training at the beginning of March waiting for the Oxycise! program to come in. I wanted to see just how good it worked, so I became my own experiment. "After doing it for just 2-1/2 weeks, I went from 111 lbs to 109, from 25" to 24" waist, from 35" hips to 34- 1/2", and from a 21" thigh to 20-1/2". But even better than all this was having members and one of my fellow trainers notice the difference. She walked by and squeezed my arm and did a double take because of the way it felt. She said, ' What have you been doing? Your arms feel great.' When I told her I hadn't as much as lifted a weight in a month, she almost fell over. It's been little comments like this that have encouraged me and proven that others notice too! "It has also helped me with my hypoglycemia and my energy level. I was diagnosed about 2 months ago and I get terrible shakes and fatigue if I don't eat every 2 hours. I no longer get the shakes every 2 hours. I find that I can go longer before my symptoms begin to surface. This has made a world of difference at my job because I stay so busy. "I'm so excited about this program and just can't wait to share it now that I know FIRST HAND how great it works!"
