hello, I have injured my feet due to plantar fasciitis...my question is this...will the breathing alone boost my metabolism, hence weight loss or are the positions important at this point? will the breathing alone help?

Don;t give up, Irishgirl! Prayerfully either Julie or Jill will get back to the message board.
I wrote Julie a week ago and still awaiting an answer. My question is almost identical to yours ....
so we both will bear up with patience, eh? Smile

Maybe someone else on the message board might know why it takes so long to get an answer from either Julie or Jill? Of course one or both could be on vacation Smile

Hello! I am back! Don't know if or when either one of us might hear from Julie BUT let me encourage you to continue the breathing!
I have all 3 DVD's of EASY DOES IT, AND they are great, BUT because of leg problem I simply cannot do the standing ones; so my routine is breathing 10 reps, then later on, I do the Sitting segment from the Level One, Easy Does it for another 10 reps.....then I follow that with another 10 reps of breathing. That is a total of 30 breathing reps for ONE workout!
AND it seems to be working! I was stuck on loss of 10 pounds but yesterday my scales said I had lost another pound!
So, Irishgirl.....learn the breathing exercises as shown in the book; do 10 reps three times during the day or rest between the reps and do all 30 at one sitting.
I do believe it will work.
Hope this helps.

Hi Everybody,
I apologize for my absence!

We have had a number of customers who have done Oxycise! on a very limited basis (using the breathing alone, or very simple positions while lying in bed) following car accidents, foot surgery, etc.

Many of these people say that the breathing alone has been very helpful.

Of course the more muscles you can work and stretch and flex, the better. But if you can't be on your foot, do the next best thing by doing lots of Oxycise!

Even by itself, the breathing does a lot of good and involves lots of abdominal muscle work, if done correctly.

Our "Smiles of Success" stories features one customer, Deb Stancil, who was unable to be on her feet during when she first started doing Oxycise! So she did Oxycise! by doing just the breathing from her recliner. Yet she still had really good results.

Hope this is helpful!

Julie

Thanks, Julie!
Yep, I truly believe just the breathing does help! For about a week, I have done 2 segments of just breathing and one segment of EDI, Level 1, Segment 1. and I have lost a bit more around the belly which is my MAIN problem!!!!

So, Irishgirl....you and I just hang with the breathing. Weight loss may take longer but it will come! And we will still 'feel' better. I have noticed that I use my inhaler so little anymore, even in this heat and humidity! Thanks be to God. I have mild COPD and the breathing has really helped!!!

So, let's breathe! Smile

Additional comments re. plantar fasciitis.

I know from experience that this can be painful!
Please see a podiatrist for personal assessment and recommendations.

Here are a few things that have helped me:

1. Specially made orthotic inserts in my shoes have helped.

2. Stretching exercises have also helped stretch the muscles in my feet and calves. (You can do these along with the Oxycise! breathing!)

Repeat several times a day, as needed.

a. If lying down, stretch your calf muscles by flexing your feet. You can also raise your leg straight up, and grab onto your toes (one foot at a time is easier)and pull gently, with leg straightened.

b. Stand sideways, about 12" away from a wall, counter or other firm surface. Place the upper part of your foot on that side of your body against the wall, with your heel on the floor. Gently lean your body towards the wall until you feel a stretch in your foot. Hold for 10 seconds; Repeat with other side.

c. Stand on a stair step (as if you are pausing while climbing the stairs). Hang onto the rails or walls for support. Allow the heel of one foot to hang off the edge of the stair and press down gently until you feel a stretch in your calf muscle. Repeat with other foot.

Cathey,

I had plantar facities about 4 yrs ago and found a great accupressure wrap I wore on my arch that seemed to aleve all the pressure and still let me wear my favorite shoes and sandals. The orthopedic insert was just too bulky for all my shoes! I think it was called FABS arch support. I'll look it up and send you a link. BTW, the foot cleared up after a LONG while and lots of prayer, but my DH had one that only lasted a month!
