I wasn't sure where to post this. I take Inderal for migraines. I've watched the intro video 4-5 times, yet I still get dizzy. I get dizzy the most when I am moving from a sitting position to a standing position. When I get off up the floor my head start to spin and I feel dizzy. Could this be from the medication or from possibly breathing incorrectly or both??
I would like to be able to do the tapes more frequently without the lighthead feel. Thanks

Hi,
I am not Julie, but I may have an answer. In Jills little guide that comes w/ the program, she states that if the oxygen exchange isnt even that can cause light headedness. So I guess that means make sure you take in, and let out equally! Good luck, take it slow and build up!

Hi Suebee,
I'm not familiar with the possible side effects of your medication, so please check with your doctor about that.

But occasional dizziness IS common with new Oxycise! customers for the reasons Tama mentioned ... the inhales and exhales may get kind of unbalanced due to lack of experience in doing deep breathing.

Most often the dizziness will happen because people will breathe IN deeply, but not breathe OUT equally well. So really focus on trying to totally EMPTY your lungs when you exhale. Try to breathe out for a full 5 seconds if you can! Then try to increase the length of your exhale until you can really feel your abdominal muscles working. Use your abdominal muscles to make the air "keep coming", like squeezing an accordion.

...And then, when you feel like your lungs are totally empty, try (even if you don't succeed) to squeeze just a TINY bit more air out by doing the 3 extra puffs. You may not be able to get ANY extra air out at first, but just keep working at it. Doing fuller exhales should make the dizziness disappear.

In the meantime, as you are practicing the breathing, be careful changing positions. In fact don't even worry about trying to do different body positions until the breathing feels deep and powerful and natural.

It's fine to do your entire workout on the floor (or from a chair) for the first week or so, just practicing the Basic Breath. The Pelvic Tilt position is probably the best position to use... on your back with your knees bent. This is a comfortable position and it automatically creates a "Pelvic Tilt" in your lower back since your knees are up.

When the dizziness is gone you can try adding some sitting positions and standing positions.
Take your time. The breathing is the most important part of Oxycise!

Remember to UN-tighten your abdominal muscles
when you inhale... deep, relaxed "belly breathing".

If you do the workouts with Jill on the video she won't have you exhaling for 5 seconds... but it's a good way to learn how to use your abdominal muscles to add control and power to your breathing.
