is it true that when u're on a weight loss program u can't hydrate ur body skin with creams or lotions because the fat of the cream will penetrate in the blood and make u fat again ?

I have no scientific knowledge to draw on here, but if I couldn't use lotions and creams and still lose weight, I'd be one uncomfortable lady! I learned about body brushing on this message board, and those of us who body brush usually use pure oil on our entire body after brushing and showering. Sometimes I use lotion or cream instead of oil, and I certainly don't think it has hindered my weight loss progress. I don't think you need to worry about this!

I have never heard anything to indicate that this is the case. I don't think there's much chance that putting lotion on your skin will cause fats in the lotion to penetrate into deeper tissues... (I doubt whether applying lotions or creams on the skin will even penetrate much beyond the first few layers.)
Do drink plenty of water. We feel this is the best way to keep your body hydrated! [This message was edited by Julie G on February 28, 2004 at 05:33 PM.] |

This is an interesting question and one I have heard more than once. I am an aesthetician and have not heard of this occuring so I asked my husband who is a doctor and he thinks the answer is "No". Slather away and for pete's sake keep breathing!
