Julie.....do you or Jill have any idea of what percentage the original weightloss is due to water loss?
some say that the first 3 to 4 pounds is water loss; some go as high as 8-10. any ideas? |

I honestly don't know if everyone conforms to the same percentage or whether it varies from one person to another.
Someone on a "starvation" type diet (severe calorie restriction) will lose a greater amount of muscle tissue (along with fat) than someone who is moderately reducing calorie intake and exercising at the same time. The goal is to retain muscle as much as possible while losing excess fat. Strength training in addition to aerobic exercise will help preserve muscle. Regarding water loss, both fat and muscle are composed largely of water. You definitely want to keep your body hydrated. I know that Jill recommends drinking 8 to 10 cups of water per day. The best way to keep track of how much fat you are actually losing is to have a body fat percentage test done when you begin Oxycise!, and then again at 6-8 week intervals. (Jill recommends having this done with professional equipment at a gym, health club or medical facility). I hope this is helpful! |
