Hello everyone!
I'm new to oxycise and love it! I think it makes a lot of sense and I'm feeling different muscles than I have in a long time. I have noticed that I have had a dull headache for the last few days (today is day 4 of the program for me). Did anyone else experience this at the beginning? Is this a common effect of the toxins starting to move out of my fat and into the blood stream to be cleaned out? I rarely get headaches and it's not like the dizzyness I've read others are experiencing. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Hi Rebecca,
I'm sorry to hear about your headaches. It's very possible that these are tension headaches caused by working a little too hard -- or rather, tightening the wrong muscles and creating too much stress in your head and neck. This problem is actually more common that you might think. Because with Oxycise! we are teaching you to work your muscles (abdomen, legs, buns, arms, thighs, etc.) but at the same time you should be RELAXING your face, head and neck. (It's actually a little tricky to work some muscles and relax others at the same time!)But just being aware of the problem may help a lot. Here's a checklist that I use myself, which might be helpful. Check your posture and make sure your head and neck are aligned. Jill suggests standing "tall" and imagining there is a string connected to the top of your head, holding your body up. When you begin to tighten your abs and other muscles, do a quick check and make sure you AREN'T tensing up your face or neck. To "erase" tension from these areas, try raising your eyebrows slightly. It sounds kind of weird, but for some reason this always helps me. When you do the "smile" do NOT clench your jaws tightly. Just stretch the corners of your mouth gently. (You don't have to do a big grin, or even show your teeth.) Consciously relax your neck and shoulders, even though other areas of your body will be tensing and flexing and working hard. At the beginning of each inhale, give all your muscles a little break and try to relax all over. When you exhale, the energy should be in your abdominal muscles, not your head. You do NOT want to feel like your head is about to explode. I hope this is helpful! |
